It's a "Blue star". Apparently what Swiss arms was able to do was designate them as "blue star, red devil, black special etc. etc. so they weren't dubbed as SG55X Variants (prohibited under Canadian law  )  I would have preferably purchased a Green Classic or a Black special but the price was right on this one. That and it hadn't been fired outside of the factory These run 3K+ tax  I would never purposely make A Smurf rifle.  It's just not right.I might send it to be redone in the future. Right now I'm more interested in shooting it  So tell me, if you had the opportunity to import these rifles, would you take them blue or not take them at all  |
That's interesting, I had no idea about that. Congrats on the rifle, regardless of the color it's still a great rifle. Hopefully the US Sig556 variant will have the option of going with the original furniture you have there when it comes out this fall.

The us sig556 looks like a nice little toy at the fraction of the price of these buggers. Once again we don't know for sure yet but considering the name the Sig 556 will most likely be dubbed as a Sg55X variant and not importable to Canada. Who knows, we'll leave that up to the "firearm forensic experts"  There's always the Robarm XCR, should it actually exist

I would gladly take it blue, then just paint over the original finish with any black/grey spray paint I could until I got it professionaly refinished. |

The rifle shoots great, but I have not had a chance to shoot it with the PRS. I just put it on Sunday.

so far so good.... stage 1   stage 2  stage 3 will add: POSP 8x42 VD - Sniper Rifle Scope with build-in AK Mount and illuminated Range Finder and Diopiter Adjustment (probably the 'pro' mildot model, undecided on that part yet)  Polymer covered steel grip-pod  and hopefully a handful of these (missed the pre-order, but at least I get to see if they work first!:  |

Using Black Hills 175gr. Match ammo, she shoots .75 - 1.0 MOA. This rifle is a Springfield and has never given me any problems. I did install a USGI bolt the day I got it, just to make sure there would be no problems. |
Just got it put together today after a stock and optics change: RRA upper & lower finished in Norrell's molly resin tan RRA LPK w/2 stage trigger Magpul MIAD & PRS Samson MRFS-R finished in Norrell's moly resin tan Denny's 16" WOA stainless match barrel with matched bolt I was not able to get the accuracy I was after with the TA11 ACOG I had on it so I decided to try the Leupold 3-9x36 MR/T. |

I posted the picture at the bottom 17 months ago and she is just now complete (well almost ). Got put on the back burner for a while as several opportunities came along to complete other projects.  First day out in the field with it:  Black Hills 69gr match king @ 110 yards. Specs: RRA lower McCromick 2 stage flat Vltor rifle length stock on carbine receiver extension (needed for my LOP) Sierra SPR grip RRA Winter trigger guard (wanted more clearance between the trigger and guard but its going to be replaced by the magpul that is on the way as it is ugly IMHO) RRA upper Wilson (RRA) 1:8 20” HBAR stainless barrel Duracoat Dark Earth Samson MRFS-R Tango Down grip panels (got rid of the pressure switch pocket as that will be a much later project for this rifle, or I may just go NV) PRI Gas Block Larue SPR mount Leupold Mk4 6.5-20x50 Illu TMR Still has less than 100 rounds through it but when I zeroed it indoors at 50 yards it was shooting .3-.4” with BH 69MK’s off the bipod. We will see how it does when I can get it on a bench with some different ammo.

My latest two. The uppers were built from Summer Sale items except for the free float tube on one (I already had it) and the detachable carry handle (I already had that too). The barrels and uppers are from the sale and the lowers I bought complete from ArmaLite. AR10A4 with EA chrome moly barrel. I broke it in yesterday and will be taking it out tomorrow to get the scope sighted in. I got it roughly sighted in while shooting and cleaning, but the damn day was so windy, I couldn't get it zeroed. Not only is it hard to zero something when the wind is gusting to 20-30 knots, but the lousy target stand was all over the place. I got a new stand to try out tomorrow. Oh, the function on the rifle was perfect using SA surplus.  This is an AR10A4 with fixed front sight and the infantry weight chrome lined barrel. It had the postban brake and I got that off and put on an A2 style flash suppressor that I already had. I also got it roughly sighted in with the iron sights on the detachable handle. Again, the function was perfect using SA. With carry handle attached:  With red dot scope instead of carry handle:  Altogether, maybe $1100 or so in these two rifles. |

Hi Larry, SA receiver, Sage EBR stock, LRB 18" barrel, SEI DC Vortex FS, SEI Ext bolt release, SEI Hooded Front sight gas block. Larue SPR-E mount, USO SN4 scope. And then some fun with krylon... Forgot to add the Dave Fisher Suppressor. Hope that helps, John |
