I got my first deer last season, and have been jonesing to get back out on another opportunity to bag another. What are you doing differently this year? For me, I'm planning on more load development/trigger time and some ruck training to get into better shape. My drag out last year was brutal and a great learning experience. It was also the furthest shot I've ever taken on an animal, and it was extremely gratifying but there's multiple areas I could have done better on. I also found two sheds last year, and plan on getting out to do some shed hunting and scouting here pretty soon. Before last year I had eaten a lot of tag soup and would have told you that duck hunting was my passion, but no duck has compared to the feeling of shooting my first deer.
Watching the kids shoot Pieeater's 1919 was great. Nothing warms the heart more than seeing a little kid kneeling in a pile of brass and links.-Pthfndr after the Nov 13th NorCal shoot

We are putting in additional food plots and if time allows a small grove of apple trees.

Me personally I will plan my fall so I can hunt both weekends of the season.

The only other thing I will do is change to a different rifle for deer. Right now the candidates are:

257R AI
7x57 AI
338-06 AI.
358 STA downloaded to about 2400 FPS.

this summer I'm going to scout more area and expand my range. I'll hit the areas I know, where I've seen deer. And go out Friday night, sleep in the truck, and be ready for a Saturday morning hunt
I know I'll never go home.
So set fire to your ships, and past regrets, and be free.
