Whats everybody like for lightweight hiking pants in the summer?
I have a few pairs but they all have things I don't like. Looking for something that breaths well. Ideally it would also be quick drying and possibly waterproof. I'm not sure if all of these are possible with one pair. I know there has been huge advances in the tech that goes into these in recent years and I really have no idea what a lot of the advantages/disadavantages are of the different materials. Also comfortable fit is important. Has anyone tried any pants made by westcomb? If so what are your thoughts? |
| I bought two pairs of 5.11 Tactical TacLite Pro Pants on a whim and really like them. I think that they would meet all of your criteria except for being waterproof. I believe that the design is based on a pair of climbing pants that were adopted by some agency for tactical use (sorry if I'm vague), thus the name, so don't let that be a turn-off. |
| I like These they are not in any way "tacticool" but they ge the job done. They are not waterproof but they are convertable so if it gets too hot you can take the legs off. |
| The North Face Paramount pants are great if you have the money. I find they are more durable than the other "tactical" pants. They sip off into shorts for added versatility. If you need more breathability but need long pants you can open the zipper to the pants legs a little and no one can tell. They also have a built in belt. Good for holding your pants up, but not a duty belt. |

I never cared for the straight nylon ones myself; I have 2 pairs of Nike ACG pants that are a nylon/cotton blend. They don't dry quite as quickly as the nylon ones, but they are much cooler. But, they are a 30" waist and I'm wearing a 32" now so I probably need to go buys some new pants ![]() Speed |

Those are my first choice I scored a $30 pair of wollriches at lable shopper , their one size too big but I haven't seen any that cheap so I grabed them they are the best for summer comfort and protection. |

Well if you can wait the LL Beans will inevitably go on sale. I have one pair I paid full price for and do NOT regret it I also have another pair I got for like $30 on sale because as you know if one is good 2 is always batter so you have a backup of course. |

I've got about 6 pairs of the TacLite Pro pants and absolutely love them. For me in the summer since it gets warm (80-90 F) and muggy in MN, I wear shorts. Pros = cooler. Cons = need more bug spray to keep the skeeters at bay. |

Look at Railriders. They are not cheap but one of the best. I have these also and love them. Tough but light, fast drying, with plenty of pockets and perfect for hiking in extreme conditions. Here is a link. http://www.railriders.com/men-versatac-ultra-light-pants-p-994.html?cPath=104_110 Looks like Dave Canterbury is a big fan of them too. |

These might meet your criteria. Any of their Cool Dry or Quick Dry pants would be gtg.
