My son he likes to get a rabbit or two.
Here's one he shot while we were sighting in his new .22 upper. One shot kill standing offhand at 60yds with Matech flip ups. Rabbit did a nice back flip when he was hit. We'll never forget that shot !! The upper is a smooth running CMMG Ciener kit, 1/12 twist Colt 14.5" barrel with perm. attached Phantom FH, Cardinal Forged A3 upper receiver, 2 pc. quad rail w/ KAC VFG and ergo grip rail covers. Of course his host lower is a Superior Arms and his color is OD.

Here's a pic of one of the jackrabbits from this weekend. I orginally started the day wanting to try coyote hunting for the first time, I just bought a Western Rivers Night Stalker caller. The rabbits were pretty plentiful, so we spent the day doing that instead.

This last pic is actually the only rabbit shot over Copper, the rest were shot in food plots while I hunted with my dog. This is the first rabbit he has ever brought full circle and boy Copper burned it up, he was hot on her tracks and circled her three times before I got a shot off. Why do you slaughter those rabbits like that? |

| Well after a rabbit gets smashed by a truck - why would you want to skin it? The meat is probably ruined, and the pelt (if you want a rabbit skin) is probably pretty torn up as well. Just go shoot one and skin it - though hunting them exclusively with trucks could be a new way to harvest rabbits . . . . |
I got a limb chicken today. Stalked the old buck. He was looting a pine cone on the ground. Since I am using an air rifle, I needed to get within 50 yards. Well, the stalk was a bit wet/slushy so I didn't try kneeling and coudn't get a good hold. He jumped onto the trunk of a tree. I flanked him, getting enough of a chance at 20 yards but didn't count on the close range and the pellet hit a bit low in the chest, right in front of the diagphragm. Down he went, the pellet going completely through! Not much meat lost
I usually go for neck/head shots but I will take this any day. Snap shooting rules. RWS 48, shooting Daisy pellets because they work. |

I shoot alot of rabbits this time of year, but I got one this morning that set the new standard for rabbit durability. When I shot this rabbit, I got a nice THWACK and knew I'd hit solid but a little far back. The rabbit falls over but then pops back up and runs off, spraying blood as it went. But it left this behind . . . .
ETA: I just noticed that this rabbit must have been having a smoke break when I whacked him! 
So I think to myself "what's keeping this thing going?" when I realize it still has it's heart and lungs. I follow the nile river of blood and bone fragments through the brush, down into a wash, and up the other side, until I find him - hollowed out. 
He ran a good distance with no guts, pouring blood, and shattered back legs - my blue car is parked by his gut pile. I'd say he ran 70 yards. Lots of nasty ticks on his face, as usual this time of year - blech.

Squirrels are already eating my pecan crop so they must be forced into my cooking utensils  . Got 3 in the past day, this morning's was a tricky one, avoiding my trap I had set. I heard him dropping shells so I stalked over to the noise...looked around and found the head, just saw the right cheek and eye so I lined up to make the shot intersect the spine... DRT, fell like a brick. Upon skinning, I saw my shot was perfect:  The skirt of the pellet can be seen in the blood clot. Smashed through the jaw, then inner skull and spine, ending up between the shoulder blades and just under the skin. I love hunting squirrel, they are crafty game. And good eating. |

Here is one from the other day...smaller fox squirrel. Hit him with the .177" Crosman Premier heavy in the right side of the face, it traversed through the jugular and carotid and smashed through the spine. Dropped like a rock, then bled and did that spastic movement. Entrance wound  Exit wound  Under skin exit wound. Pellet is somewhere in the tree.  A fryer for certain. I love hunting them. |

I keep an inch and a half guardrail nut on a loop of 550 cord. It's not whiz-bang tactical, but one smack in the grape and it's coloring books for Christmas. [img]smiley_crossbones.gif[/img]

Got these three little tree rats today in a beech stand... They were too interested in scolding my dog for being in "their" woods to notice me with my 10/22. Three shots, three kills. No dinner pic, as dinner was already planned. They are taking up space in the freezer for now though!

Here's my little adventure with my younger cousin last Sunday. He got all the fox squirrels and I got all the gray ones...strange how that worked out! Would of had two more but after falling out of the tree/climbing down the decided to run off and bleed out elsewhere.  Oh well. Not bad for only an hour and a half out in the woods still early in the season!

and the after effects of me skinning and cooking him for my VN girlfriend and sis they loved it. picked the bones clean then eat them!! the rib cage looked like a buzzard went over it. haha asians will eat any part, of anything
