weather looks okay for doing an activation tomorrow, but given this morning's results, I don't know that I should bother. So if you were on the air today, how did it go? Things improve enough to warrant a 45 min drive to my favorite park? I got 2 USB, 1 FT8 and 1 CW parks today of all spots shown on the POTA website

wow, what a difference band conditions make (duh)... weather wasn't cooperative yesterday, but I was able to squeeze in a short activation today. I was pretty much busy the entire time! about 1 QSO/Min, which includes time spent hunting and waiting my turn in line. POTA is fun on these kinds of days I picked up some DX P2P as well

Park Ranger quizzed me about my antenna, saw my Air Assault badge on my hat and just asked that I check in at the station next time and let them know. Hit one of my favorite non-North shore MN parks this week. Attached File Is anyone else using SOTAMĀT for spotting themselves when there is no cell service? Saved me a few times on SOTA peaks, this was the first I tried it for parks…it worked well

Activated Wichita Mountains while visiting my daughter in Oklahoma. Very cool place to hike around but pretty busy on the weekends. Didn't get a SOTA in but still was a great place to see. I'll be in Colorado from June 4-10 hopefully do a POTA and SOTAs going to try and activate Mt Warner in Steamboat Springs Attached File |

Finally got off my hind parts earlier this month and scheduled a weekend radio camp for one. Been almost three years since the last. Didn't opt for the WMA this time because of the last moment choice. State park an hour away is good enough. Logged several hundred from the tent over eighteen hours, mostly on voice. 15 & 17 SSB are my favs. Best DX came from Qatar. Felt great to be out again working radio at dawn/dusk. Antennas: GP vertical, 30-20-17-15 linked dipole, 40-10 OCFD, EFHW 40-10. I used the wire links the most, then the OCFD. |

Did a little 13 mile backpack loop and stopped at mile 9.6 to camp and get a Pack Mule in. A bit buggy so I went in the tent. I’ve had good luck starting around 0000utc on 20m, then switching to 40. Finally started logging direct to PoLo vs using paper…much nicer. Attached File I received a random email from this website telling me there were YouTube videos of me chasing. It’s indexed to the start of your QSO. Cool to hear how loud my 5w signal actually is on their end. |

I think a lot of POTA hunters and activators work around 00 UTC, new day, since POTA starts over then. So hunters may be more active looking for multiple days/contacts. POLO is great, highly recommend. Can't wait for their desktop app. |

I primarily hunt parks, I have activated two. Yesterday, I ran across a first for me - aeronautical mobile in a park. Apparently POTA allows this as long as the aircraft is within the park boundaries. I have made contacts with a few /AM before, but never heard of POTA /AM. |
| Heard the saddest of sad hams today. Was hunting POTA and heard a hunter berating an activator for not giving the *name* of the park. Not the number, the name... The activator was obviously surprised and responded with, "Thanks for the insight", in a rather sarcastic manner. His next CQ included the name of the park! |

I was able to activate US-0360, Glacier Ridge WMA, on my way through NW MN for work. It was hit or miss for a bit, 20 was up and down and 40 was dead. Took a couple hours to get 32 contacts, including one in France (likely running power and a beam). |
