If funds are unlimited, I really like the looks of the Out on a Limb 2 man stand. They have adjustable brackets so they can mount to crooked trees. I like the seat design too, it's a little spaced away from the tree, so again crooked trees or branches shouldn't be a problem. The biggest problem I've had with standard ladder stands, and regular tree stands for that matter, is how hard it is to find a tree that they really mount good to. All our trees out here are gnarly and crooked. The straightest ones are often old cottonwoods that have huge diameters, and that is it's own set of problems. For what it's worth, mine is the heavy duty one from Runnings, I forget the model, but it has the full floor, which you really want so you can set things down. The half floor ones suck, you may as well use a tree stand at that point. So far mine has held up fine, it's been on a number of trees, but has been outdoors for a few years now without any issues. I still much prefer my Luckys ground blinds. They are much more versatile, easier to find a spot for, and the comfort of them is unmatched. No roof I have come up with for a stand has ever matched a blind in bad weather. They are as comfortable as any plywood permanent stand you could ever build. I use two man ladder stands for the space. If I was going to take a second hunter with me, I would definitely prefer the blind. |
