My neighbor is moving and wants to sell a Honda EU 6500is Generator.
A 2009 model with appx. 400 hours on it. Asking $2500 before the horse trading begins. Is this a decent unit and is the price fair? |

Quoted: Quoted: does it have all the house hookup stuff with it? It includes the cable to connect to a transfer switch. Knowing this neighbor, the unit was probably very well maintained. $2k-2250, if you think he will haggle. Otherwise; cough up the 2500. Seems like a good deal. |

The price is fair considering a new one retails for around $4000. Yep. The $1500 you save over a new one would buy you a nice spare generator (Honda EU2000i, Yahama EF2000is, etc.). This big/small generator approach is great for conserving fuel when running small loads. |

You can get a much larger generator for less money. This is especially important if you want to power your entire house.

That's less than 17 days - or just a few days per year, over the past 5 years. NH nor'easters can be tough... And that assumes he doesn't run it a couple hours every month or two... And he doesn't take it to the ball game tailgating (most of my Genny's hours are there)... 400 does not seem excessive to me. |

I have replaced many Generacs with Kohlers. Kohler service network is far beyond Generac. |

Just advice, when you talk to him have $100 bills in cash.... Cash is a powerful negotiation too. Now you might have 1800 in cash to show him..... See if he takes it. But I would work out number and but it. +1 Good idea, My personal opinion is Honda Generators are the best in the market. |

This site contains extensive video product reviews, hundreds of personal product reviews and great pricing on generators. It helped me greatly and I am thrilled with both the service and product that I received. I really like the following generator: Nice Whole House Generator |

Well I just made the deal with the neighbor. Got the 6500is for $2000 including the cord. Unit actually had only 214 hours. I believe I got a decent deal. Thanks for every ones help. Yep, you did well. Good psychological number to make the seller feel better. Where's he moving to? No need for a genny there or is he going to get something else? Shipper won't take the genny? |

His new house as an automatic whole house unit installed. He's not a tool guy by any stretch. His garage consists of a broom, one rake and the generator. |

After many years of putting every chem known to man on the yard to keep the grass close to the green of the rest of the neighbors, sometimes it makes sense to bail to where the green don't shine and spend time doing moar important things, like exploring land. That NEVER gets old and when you need to pee you just whip it out.

This big/small generator approach is great for conserving fuel when running small loads. This is exactly how I do it. I have a pair of eu2000is, an eb2500xk1, and an eb5000xk1. For most of what I do, the second 2000 and the 2500 are superfluous. A single eu2000i is ideal for most tasks if I don't mind jockeying breakers on the transfer switch. The eb5000 is ideal for charging my battery bank quickly, or when I need 220v power. The second eu2000i is most useful during the winter when I need to power multiple loads at the same time while conserving fuel. The eb5000 is a pig, and it's loud enough to wake the dead. |
