Just curious as to what everyone likes for fly boxes as I'm planning on picking a few more up... mainly for sizes 8-20, nothing too large.

Really like the C&F box I have and may just grab a couple more of those for consistency. Just wanted to see if anyone had any great recommendations.

I use C&F boxes for storage, but pick a dozen flies out and stick the little box in my pocket to fish with.

Scientific Anglers made some small boxes a couple years ago that are great, but they no longer make those.

So I've been buying these:

Not a Wheatly, but it fits perfect in a shirt pocket and if I lose it I'm only out $3.

The CF boxes are great. If you don't close them while wet. They can rust hooks pretty fast over a couple of hot days.

Since my flies seem to always be wet I switched to the Simms foam boxes. They don't seal so I get less rusting issues. The removable inserts are nice when I switch to different techniques/flies. I have three boxes and probably a dozen inserts loaded with flies of various types. I don't think the Simms boxes are the "best" because I am still looking for the best....

Most of my smaller trout stuff is in Wheatly boxes.

I just picked up a nice one from my shop but it's branded with their logo. Not sure who the mfgr is. My other stuff is for saltwater flies but I have a nice Scientific Anglers box. I picked it up because it's waterproof which is handy in the kayak. I don't put the wet flies back in it opting to wait for them to dry first.

I have a couple of Cliff's fly boxes (super Days worth, Crab shack and the INtruder) that I carry when I fish. Just depends on if I'm streamer fishing (I use the crab shack), dry fly( days worth) or swinging for steelhead (the intruder).

I tie about 95% of my own flies so I also have several Cliff Beast boxes that hold my "inventory." I re-supply my smaller boxes from the big boxes when I get out to where I fish based on reports and observations of the stream/river, whats flying around bug wise or swiming around (for streamers).

Seems to work well for me. I keep the large cases and the smaller boxes in a large tackle bag that stays in my truck so I always have what I need when I get to where I have chosen to fish that particular day. Quick re-supply, tuck the smaller box of my choice into my pack and go.

Seems like alot but it works for me and the way I fish (I get out atleast 4 times a week, every week from April through till the rivers ice up).

Ok, scrap the SA box I mentioned above. It sucks. It's had water in it the last two trips in the yak. I'm shopping again.

Probably going to get a Grey's to try out.

Much like the C&F, it has the center page but it only runs about $10.
