| Every year I plant a greenfield and supplement with corn. I usually see20-25 different deer every year. I put up a auto feeder in the field this to minimize my time in the area. I am only seeing the same 4 small does. The only other factor that has changed this year is my neighbor moved who always had 4-5 greenfields planted adjoining my property. Thoughts? |

In my experience, deer take notice of the feeder (18' off ground), and in certain instances, steer clear of it. (Close to empty, windy, moving or swinging). I have tons of pics of both buck and doe taking notice, and also feeding directly below it. I can't say it has kept decent bucks from coming in. Like anything new, deer will acclimate. If the feeder is moving/ swinging, their leery, and will not (usually) feed directly below. Since the corn is thrown a decent distance, they will feed on the thrown corn. I do see the same bucks on the other blinds. YMMV    |

Given enough time, deer will get used to anything. Leave the feeder up year round and dropping a small amount of corn every day, kick up the amount of corn as deer season approaches. Deer get scared by new things in their environment. You suddenly put a feeder up that makes weird noises and they are going to stay away for a while. |

Never had a problem with feeders and deer being spooked. Even when it goes off deer might run a few feet but stop and go back to doing their thing. Even when I place a feeder in a new spot, deer come to it no problem. This year I placed feeders in a spot they have not been in ten years... deer came to it immediately. I've killed nice bucks off of or near feeders so that tale about not being able to kill nice deer off of or near a feeder I don't know how accurate that actually happens to be. |
