I have an SPR-E Mount with a Trijicon accupoint 1.25x4 mounted in it. I have the rings tightened down as far as is possible, they won't get any tighter, However the is some minor wiggle on the front end of the optic. It isn't enough to really measure. It doesn't wiggle by itself, but if you move it with your hand you can notice it.

Is this normal? Before I bother the company I figured I would ask you guys.

Personally I would warrant a wiggle in optics as something serious enough to go ahead and contact LT. But that is just my suggestion.

You probably have 30mm rings. That scope has a 1" tube.

Nope, thats not it, though it could very easily have been. I had 30mm rings for a different optic. When I switched to the Trijicon, I called LaRue and ordered 1" rings.

I had a similar issue with a Millet DMS. I sent the mount back to Larue and it checked out fine (imagine that). Sold the Millet and bought a TR24G. No problems since.

So the rings are touching each other at the top?

Maybe try swapping the rings front and rear. Now if you had a inside micrometer I'd say measure the I.D. of the rings mounted empty and the O.D. of the scope.

Talked to Alfred (i didn't want to bother them but he shot me an IM) and he suggested unscrewing everything and rescrewing bottom first then top. I will advise on the results, though I am sure it will solve the problem.

Thanks everyone for the input and thanks LaRue for the help and advise.

For anyone else that may have this problem, Alfred said there is no torq pattern to the SPR-E mount, just do bottom all the way across, then tops.

/edit/ I did the traditional x pattern when I first mounted it.

I'm sure you know this, but if someone doesn't, start all the screws loosely before tightening the bottom ones.

Didn't read this all the way through, but my guess is if you read the directions and tighten the bottom first.............

I followed Alfred advice and fixed the problem. I unscrewed all of the screws. Starting from the bottom left I went left to right and tightened all screws as tight as they go. Then on to the top left to right until they were tight. No More wiggle!! Guess I should have done that the first time.

***Note to anyone having this problem. Do not go in the x pattern. Start at the bottom tighten all then go to the top.

Thanks again LaRue (Alfred) and everyone else.

That is interesting as, having never been instructed to the contrary, I have tightened all of my LaRue mounts in the traditional X-pattern with no ill effects.

I have done the same as you (x pattern) on all my other LaRue mounts (4 of them) and have had no ill effects until this time. In the x pattern with the spr-e no matter how tight I thought I had it(I couldn't tighten it any further no matter what I tried) the scope wiggled. In the straight across the bottom to the top its rock solid. Go figure.

I might question the scope's quality.

A trijicon? Why would you question the quality?
