"MAP" stands for Minimum Advertised Pricing. It's a policy that many manufacturers of products coerce vendors into agreeing to in order to offer their products. It basically says you cannot "advertise" a price lower than what the manufacturer states on a certain product. This is a very common policy on things like optics, thermal imagers, etc. The policy is a socialist construct which is supposed to help maintain the positive image of a product via supposedly keeping a high (advertised, key word to remember) price on a product. A big clue is when you see the same product offered at the same price at multiple vendors, you can safely assume "MAP" pricing socialist BS is in effect on that product. If you see "call to order" used or "call for best price", etc. Let's just say it's in YOUR best interest to pick up the phone and make a call if your serious about the product. And a "call" means just that, not a text, PM or email.
