WTK What is a fair or good price to pay for a COLT GOV A2 Carbine? Found a shop with one and curious what a good price would be considered. Thanks in advance |

What they sold for in 1999 or 2004 means absolutely nothing as those dates don't in any way reflect the current market conditions. GunBroker shows a bunch selling in the $700 to $900 range recently. They appear to be duty used. One newer looking one in excellent condition sold for $1,419. It included the box and accessories. Another newer looking one failed to sell twice at $1,295 and once at $1,200, but sold the next time at $1,200. All have the LEO restricted markings. |

It all depends upon condition. If it’s in very nice shape with original furniture, $1400 is a fair price. Especially if it has skinny 6-hole fiberlite handguards and n1 type fiberlite stock. If it has a lot of external wear, has aftermarket furniture, is modified, it’s a bad price. Some will have a bunch of what appear to be scratches in the anodizing, but are just deposition of aluminum from mags blocking around against the receivers in a cruiser. Those can usually be gently removed with a fine Scotchbrite pad and oil. |

Preban (1994 AWB) prices have taken a big hit since August 1st when Massachusetts changed their law and Mass FFLs can no longer buy these guns outside Mass and resell them in state for a good profit. Before that, you would see them bid to $2000-$3000. They now seem to bid to $1000-$1500. Some sellers are still advertising at the previously higher prices, but the guns tend to sit. |
