First off, I once again want to reiterate my thanks to Mark LaRue for doing UHFO. I was telling my boss about the contest yesterday, and he says, "He gives that away *each* month?!?!" I said, "YEP."
After a good day of sporting clay practice, I get home and see that my wife has this laying in the foyer. 
Upon first opening the box, I see this on top of the softcase. Needless to say, I will likely not be able to outshoot this shootist. I'm blown away. Seriously.
What's this?

Note that the hat wasn't in this picture because I was already wearing it. I love my other LaRue hat, and this one is sure to get plenty of wear time as well.
I pulled out the lower I had stashed away for this bad boy, a billet ambi AR15.com lower. I still need a few lower parts and buffer tube kit, and this thing'll be shooting in no time (it's just mocked up for now). I didn't even realize this came with a LT-104 mount. Now I need to get some glass to go in it.
Sorry for the crappy quality pics, but it was late and I was too excited to pull out my wife's nice camera.

October 2013 winner here. Finished and ready to shoot. It came with an optic mount, so now I need to find an optic with 30mm (I think) tube. In due time, lol. Sorry it took soooo long to finally piece together. I slapped it on an arfcom billet lower, and I think it's slick.
As you can see, my little buddy was as excited as me.

May 2014 winner reporting in again.
I owe a very belated, quite overdue "thank you from the very bottom of my heart" to Mark Larue and Mark Fingar. About two weeks after I learned I won the UHFO contest, I learned that I got something else I didn't want. The cancer that I thought for sure I had beaten the summer previously and throughout the fall with surgery and chemo was suddenly back, in the form of a large tumor in the middle of my liver. Mark Fingar got in touch with me about the UHFO contest exactly 10 days before the surgery to remove the tumor. It was a very risky surgery that involved the removal of the entire right side of my liver and part of the left. Essentially 2/3 of my liver was cut out. There are major blood vessels in that area that needed to be cut and tied, etc. I had grave reservations about whether I was going to survive it, never mind the thought that the cancer was back and who else knew where it might show up at that point. I wrote the letters to my family, etc. Not a good time. I knew that LT was something like a year behind on fulfilling back-orders at that point because of the whole 2013 panic. When Mark contacted me I just let him know that I wasn't sure about my future, and that if anything happened, I wanted to be sure he had my wife's contact info. Needless to say I was pretty blown away when the package arrived less than a week later. 
With all of the drama associated with the surgery, recovery, constant check-ups, getting my body chemistry back in order, medical bills, etc, on top of returning to work and an absolutely hellish winter, I have not had the time or resources to get the Stealth upper into shooting form despite the passage of almost a year, but some of the UDE furniture has sexily found its way on to my LT rail/LT 660/ LT BUIS equipped SBR. Amazingly, so far so good on the health front. I'm a lot weaker than I was two years ago but my liver is regenerating and my blood work has looked OK as far as cancer markers. So I hope to get the upper to the range sometime this year and give it the wringing out it deserves. Mark L and Mark F - thank you for what you do and especially what you guys did last June. You guys make awesome "stuff," but your conduct on the human side of the equation is what really sets you apart. - Larue Customer for Life |
