I recently found a video by PSA GVEGAS on youtube assembling the PSAK. In the video the gal identified matching serial numbers on the main components. I figured that's neat, I saw the receiver, dust cover and bolt on mine were all the same. Then this morning I noticed again on the daily deal, and as mentioned in the video. The bolt carrier and the gas tube are also supposed to be serialized.

I can't seem to find a serial number on either my carrier or the gas tube. Was this omitted for a reason on my pre-built AKM, or are these parts only serialized on the barreled receivers?

I'm curious to know, because it sheds light on the history of the PSAK. I'm not a collector, but I've also never bought a gun to sell. I do however keep notes on all of my firearms and you never know, 50 years from now matching and unmatched sets might command different values.

The serializing of the gas tube and carrier is a running change.  It started with the barreled assemblies, and all complete rifles going forward.

Your earlier model would not have the gas tube or carrier engraved.

Thanks!

This helps with maintaining the history of the rifle. To many it's unimportant, but I can't tell you how many times while doing research I come across things like; Did they do this 40 odd years ago?
