Guys, really could use your help for a couple of mounting solutions with PA items I want to order.
PA is out of magnifier mounts, but will stardard 30MM rings work? I cant find anything on tube size on Gen1/2 or Deluxe. Dont really want to shell out the money for a couple of Larues at this time which is what everyone asks about. AK Solution help: Want to buy the PA Micro to mount on my Belarus BP-02 side mount. I know I dont need riser, but will a low 30MM ring work with a PA magnifier and be inline with the micro? If not, It may steer me to just buying a magnified scope. AR Solution help: Have an Aimpoint Comp ML-3. Can I just get a pair of 30MM Burris High Tac rings and have the aimpoint and PA magnifier line up? I'm not really to concerned about the QD or pivot aspect of the mounts as I have more time (to remove stuff) than money. Any other options/opinions would be great. Heres what I have to work with. The EOTech and RRA Dominator 2 are moving to my other AR. I want to install my new comp ML3 with a PA Magnifier on this bushmaster if I can get help with inexpensive mounting solution and not coughing up the dough for a couple of Larues. Also, not sure my SGL-21 will have enough real estate on the Belarus rail since PA Micro cant be canted to make room for Magnifier, but that would be sweet if it did. I like the optics back and dont prefer to go the ultimak route http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/ae15/skmanipon/ar15%201-10-2010/DSC00986.jpg http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/ae15/skmanipon/ar15%201-10-2010/DSC00987.jpg http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/ae15/skmanipon/ar15%201-10-2010/DSC00988.jpg |

I just put a Gen 2 Micro on a rail and added an Aimpoint low ring to it. The ring is a little bit taller, but it might work since the magnifier and optic don't have to match up perfectly to work. My worry is if the rubber on the magnifier will make it too large in diameter to attach to the rail with the low ring. I guess you could hang that part off the rail at the rear, so that would really not be a problem. My bet is that it will work.

Wow...Thanks for the relply ACR1. I know chances would be thin that Marshall would respond with the SHOT show coming up but Wow, thought all the gurus would help me out.
Sorry, not familiar with the "rubber" on the magnifier. I was hoping for my AK that the AIM 12229 Low rings with a PA magnifier would line up sufficiently with the PA Micro for a sweet rig on my Arsenal SGL-21. Again, not trying to be cheap, but I dont really want to drop another 3 bills on larues. I understand the AR platform needs a "cant" mount but will a standard 30mm ring work for the magnifier. (What affordable "cant" mount and ring?) without breaking the bank. Am I just hosed on my AK for a clean aligned rig with a PA Micro? (ie no ring low enough for magnifier) |

I am not familiar with the ring mount you have listed. I used the ring mount that Aimpoint sells for the M3 like this one. It is the lowest one of this type they sell.
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=420719 The rubber I am referring to is the one on the deluxe magnifier that PA sells found here. http://www.primaryarms.com/product.sc?productId=305&categoryId=9 The rubber is larger in diameter than the optic and could interfere with the use of a low ring if you did not let it stick out over the rail at the rear of your mount. The EOtech style magnifier would not work at all as it is larger in diameter at both the front and rear. You really just have to play around with these things to see what works. |
| Thanks. I get you on the rubber part now. I was looking at the G1/G2 not the deluxe. Are the magnifiers a standard 30MM tube? Wish PA would sell the PA brand mounts by themselves (ie "cant" mount, magnfier mount) Everything else I've seen is just junk or airsoft stuff and all the name brand stuff starts at $150 plus. I try to live by the motto, dont let all your upgrades cost more than the whole gun cost you. Pretty darn hard these days. Crap I bought my RRA dominator 2 for $70 bucks when they came out. Now their $185 |
