Still waiting on my optic, so I haven't put any rounds down range with it yet, but I'm not loving it at first glance ...and being in VA, I can't afford to wait to buy AR parts since many vendors are refusing to sell us anything after July 1. Yes, even stocks. The lack of a cheek riser stands out, as does the bottom, which looks very questionable for stability on a bag. Has anyone swapped on a PRS, PRS Lite, or something else they like? |

I replaced the stock on mine with a PRS Lite. I think it will work great for my needs. With a 1.54 scope mount I don’t think a cheek rest is a necessity but I plan on mostly bench shooting this gun and the factory “sbs” stock didn’t have much to rest on a bag. The PRS lite definitely added a little weight, but to the rear of the gun, which on my 18” with a suppressor helps balance it out a little better. |

Yeah, PRS Lite looks like it may be what I end up getting, but can't say I love having adjustments that require a tool. I guess I've been spoiled by having a full-size PRS Gen 3 on another rifle, but it looks like a PRS Gen3 won't work on a GFR, at least without modification of the stock or the GFR. I just gave it a shot. The stock slides on fine, but the thick QD portion of the GFR endplate stops it from sliding all the way forward.  The QD hole on the stock then doesn't clear the slanted portion of the buffer tube's indexing rail.  That prevents the QD screw/plug from being able to pass all the way through the stock, which is fairly important, given it is what clamps the stock on the buffer tube.  Solution is either remove that endplate, or try to remove material from the end of the stock's spacer tube, but that might compromise it's rigidity.  Sucks a bit, and frankly, I'm surprised it's not compatible out of the box given these rifles are typically intended for longer distance, and are more likely candidates for one of the better adjustable stocks available for an AR pattern rifle. @sagmill for awareness |

Hmm, @imabballer , did you mount a PRS Lite on a GFR, and, if so, did you run into a similar issue? This guy did, with what looks like a thinner QD portion of an endplate on his rifle, and ended up having to Dremel that portion of the stock, so I suspect the fit would be even worse on a GFR. It took some decent torque to break the staking on the castle nut but I just swapped it out for a milspec I had in my parts bin and re-staked it. Attached File |

So I assume you also purchased the Recce instead of the Stratomatch. I see now the Stratomatch ships with what looks like a standard milspec endplate, which is how they fit a PRS Lite on it. That's a difference I hadn't noticed when I was making the decision between the two models. Not sure why they would bother with a different end plate on the Recce, and use one they had to know would cause issues if someone wanted to swap on a PRS later. That sucks a bit. |

I decided against the stratomatch just because I knew with optics, suppressor, laser, light, bipod, etc. it was going to be a pig, so I decided the small accuracy loss might be worth saving a pound+. As I contemplated it one of the benefits of the 6arc is that it fits into a lighter small frame AR, and my fear was at some point the stratomatch might start approaching on the same weight as a large frame gun, but with less performance. I really like the design of the end-plate Geissele uses on the recce. I almost went with a b5 adjustable stock instead of the prs, and if I had the QD end plate would have been nice. I chose the PRS lite over the B5 to save a little bit of weight. |
I struggled a bit as well, but after seeing a couple videos like this one, I realized the accuracy of the the recce barrel was going to be absolutely fine for my needs, and I'd gladly take the small hit for barrel longevity: ??GFR [Geissele 6mm ARC] to 1,000yds: Practical Accuracy [Tangent Theta 3-15] And the fact that I have a couple Hux cans and it came with a Hux muzzle adapter appealed to my laziness.  I thought I was mostly just giving up ARCA-lok, which wasn't a big deal to me, so I actually paid more for the Recce. Then I got it and realized I'm not loving the stock, so that might have swung me had I held one first. But I hear you about weight. The reason I have the PRS Gen3 sitting around is because I pulled it off another rifle for that reason. It's a tank. My Spuhr mount shows up tomorrow, so I guess I'll get the GFR out to the range this weekend and see if I can live with the G stock...or if I'll be breaking out my castle nut wrench. I have a 14.5 GFR and it’s the most accurate gas gun I’ve ever shot and I’ve spent a lot of time and money on precision gas guns. I’m kinda mad about it lol. I wasn’t sure about the stock but I decided to use it for a while before changing it. It’s grown on me. Bottom rides a bag fine, kinda is the perfect LOP(I think it’s longer bodied then like a sopmod)for me and actually like the shape of the buttpad. Or maybe it’s just the buttpad length and shape I like. I don’t use a cheek riser though , I got fat cheeks(  ) Attached File |
