My RRA Match AR Trigger went full auto today after about 3 years and only about 1000 rounds. It's been great and one of the best AR Triggers I have ever used....Crisp, smooth, dependable and a great value for the money.

Same mag, upper, ammo as usual, it just fired about a 5 round burst for no apparent reason. Anyone else ever have any doubling problems with a RRA Match 2-Stage Trigger?

Raised a lot of eyebrows!

Just curious,

Where you holding in the trigger for the 5 round burst, or did it keep firing after
you let go of the trigger?

Fortunatly, as soon as I released the trigger...it stopped. I squeezed off what I thought was just a single shot as usual, and instead of kicking the trigger back...it went full auto.  I was shooting prone, supported, so controling the burst was no problem, and it did stop when I released the trigger.
Don;t want it happening again!

I don't understand what the problem is....

"I squeezed off what I thought was just a single shot as usual, and instead of kicking the trigger back".............

sounds like you're "ladyfingering" it, in other words overcontrolling the trigger.  Try conciously pressing the trigger until it stops (follow through) and not stopping your trigger finger when the shot breaks.

Cheers,

Phil

This still shouldn't happen. In a match it could turn deadly. Please lat RRA take care of this for you, I'm sure that Steve, Chuck, and crew don't want this to be a problem and will take care of it.

That's probably exactly the issue.  My RRA will throw out a few consecutive shots if I conciously hold the trigger close to the grip after the first shot .  Right wrong or indifferent I know it's a problem but I don't mind so much.  I have a spare LMT trigger I intend to use as a replacement someday.

Sounds like I'm not the only one.

It's going back to the shop I bought it from for a check-up.
But I have heard there are NO user servicable parts. Don't know if that includes disconnector spring or not.

I hate pulling triggers-hammers out because the damn soft aluminum holes in the lower will start enlarging. I believe the RRA pins are already a little tight anyways.

Can't just leave it alone.

One full auto discharge can be accidental..If it does it again at my range...it will look intentional.

Go ahead and call our Sales Department (309-792-5780)for a return authorization.  I'm assuming, from your description, that it's not mounted in one of our factory-assembled rifles?  We would still want to check it (in the lower it's mounted in)from a safety standpoint.

Steve,
         Thanks for the help...Greatly Appreciated!
If my 'Smith-Retailor has any problem solving the problem, it'll be heading your way.
Quick question: With the trigger in the full-fired,rear position, should the hammer easily "catch" in the trigger mechanism...or will it rebound?
I checked mine, and with the trigger finger all the way back, if I push the hammer back into the trigger...it takes a lot of force to get it to engage back into the trigger or won't engage and capture at all.
But if I ease off the trigger slightly...it'll catch and easily lock into place 100%.

Again, Thanks for the Great Advice!

          Regards,
          Al S
