I will soon be in the market for a couple of Colt pre-ban AR's to go with my Colt post-ban MT6601, and I wanted to get up-to-speed on the terminology...

- Green Label?  Blue Label?  Yellow Label?

- Unblocked?

TIA,

I am not an expert on the topic but I do have a blue label. Mine is a 16' lightweight sporter. It was a gun made just before the ban. It has no bayonette lug and a device over the sear to keep you from turning it to full auto. It was colt's attempt to be politically correct. Gun shoots great and has the A-2 flashhider.

Since writing this request, I've since found this FAQ:

http://www.biggerhammer.net/ar15/coltcolors.html

It appears that even within these box label colors, there is some variation, but to generalize:

- Green label (GREAT) - pre-ban and all the evil features
- Yellow label (GREAT) - pre-ban custom
- Blue label (OK) - depends on when made, as some blue label are pre-bans and contain some evil features
- White label (GOOD) - some green and blue label features

Haven't found any info yet on "unblocked" though...
