I recently ordered an STR lower build kit pictured here.  http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/build-kits/psa-str-lower-build-kit-black.html
When I received it, I noticed that the buffer was not the PSA buffer shown in the picture, but rather the one pictured here: http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/lower-parts/individual-parts/buffered-tube-assembly-parts/complete-6-position-mil-spec-buffer-tube-assembly.html

I called about this, requesting I have the PSA buffer shipped to me.  I was told that I would have to return my entire STR build kit and would have to pay a 10% restocking fee.  I was not pleased with this, because I am not at fault for not receiving what I ordered and I don't feel like I should have to pay a fee to get what I ordered.  I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told she was in a meeting.  I left my name and number to have her call me back.  It's been 3 days now and I still have not gotten a call back.

I know the 2 buffers are probably comparable, but my issue is more with the customer service in this matter.  If they are out of PSA buffers, they should update the photo or put a notification that the parts might differ from what is shown.

I was wondering about this too as I ordered the same kit and got the non psa buffer. I was expecting the logoed buffer...

Same here, I didn't really think much of it though.

I don't get it.  The buffer in each pic has the PSA logo.

Seems they updated the photo in the 2nd link I posted.  It did feature a standard grey buffer.

Huh.

Well, I'm not sure why you care whether or not your buffer has a logo on it.  You'll only see it when you separate upper from lower.

Something I noticed in the STR kit picture is what looks like a black 5.56 round.  Anyone know what that is about?

It is a dummy  round from Magpul for locking the frictrion lock mechanism on the STR.

I received the same kit on Friday and did not pay attention to the buffer until now (after reading this thread).  I got the non-logo buffer.
PSA, what is the difference between the two buffers beside the logo?

I know you guys want what was pictured but the logo will wear off once you shoot the gun. Or at minimum get all scratched up.

IMO as long as it's the correct weight advertised I wouldn't worry about it.

After nearly destroying my hands with that dummy bullet (Maybe I was doing something wrong), I can now install and remove the STR stock at will (without the dummy bullet).  I am very good with following directions and I kept on referring back to the enclosed installation instructions. After lots of unfriendly words regarding how Magpul's desgin was "fill in the blank", I took a quick inspection and in less than 3 seconds, I can installed and removed the stock with a (one) Q-tip.  Yes, a Q-tip and about 3 seconds.  BTW: the dummy bullet's tip was bended pretty good.

Totally with you there YG.  I have no idea how they intend for you to leverage the spring-loaded doohicky with a plastic bullet.  I even sent Magpul an e-mail to that effect but never heard back from them.  I used an Allen key I had laying around at the time as a lever, myself.

That was my plan of attack too. I saved the dummy for the range.
