My OBR got to my FFL this past Wednesday and I was lucky enough to be near by to be able to release it from its UPS box. Upon removal of this master piece from its FDE plastic container I was truly amazed at the OBR's craftsmanship and attention to detail. There is not doubt that LT thought of everything in its design. As I patiently waited for it to be logged in and my paperwork started I started to examine the contents of the box. Included with the OBR where 2 Magpul LR20 modified magazines(10 rounds), three OBR rail sections, and the standard gun lock. I continued to feel like a little girl on Christmas day as I completed all my paperwork, placed my OBR in a gun sock so that it would not get scratched, and went on my way with the above mentioned items. When I got home I noticed that the included rail sections looked a little different than the ones on LT site. The ones on the website have 7 notches and the ones that came with my OBR have 5 notches. Normally this is not an issue at all but the LT handstops will not work in this 5 notch setup. There is only one slot to hold the handstop in place. The rails work great with the FUG and all other accessories that will fit on a 3 inch rail. I corrected the issue when I called LT today to place an order for a few other little items that I need to finish this OBR project. (Surefire MB, extra OBR rail section, OBR rail covers, LT111, and a 6 pink Dillios). I was just curious to why the change in the 3 inch OBR rails from the 7 notch offered on the website to the 5 notch that came with my OBR? I looked back at a few pics of the OBR in some past forum posts, and noticed that the recent OBR's have this "new" 5 slot setup. Any thoughts? Maybe Mark or Mark can come by and let chime in! Or if need be correct me if I am wrong. ( Hell lately I have gotten nothing right!) Just thought I would add a few pics for demonstration.

Here is the rail section off the LT site:

One a side note I can not thank Mark enought for the ability to have one of these in Komifornia! I have not shot this yet but I think that the Remi 700 will be getting very very dusty in the back of my safe.!!

My boss just got his not even two weeks ago (which I believe he was at the LT shop) and I noticed the same thing about the rails. So it's my assumption that it is a possible shift to the 5 notch rail, as to why my guess is as good as anyones else outside of the LT camp. And I don't have a good guess as to why.

Well this probably didn't help much... sorry.

Just looked different to me. Wondering why the move to 5 notches. May LT has some super secret product that is made just for that rail configuration!

Id like to see if someone from LT would chime in on this one.

You got the new, lower-profile rails. They are designed to tuck accessories closer to the handguard.

Original on the left, lower profile on the middle and right.

Are these going to be available for those of us looking for the lower profile sections to put on our OBR's?

Thanks for the pics Mark.  Will the newer low-profile rail section come with the PredatAR series?

Mark,

Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I feels better!!! Oh by the way! You guys did a great job with those modified Pmags. I just wish that I could get my hands on some LT modified metal mags instead!

To bring this back to life, I'll trade you, or anyone, the Lo-Pro rail from my PredatAR for the standard one that comes/came with the OBR.  Of course, akethan gets first shot at it...

I'm indifferent, but since I have 1 lo-pro and 6 of the OBR ones, might as well keep them all the same.

Thx for the trade akethan!
