I just got a new DD5 v3 and I want to change the muzzle device for a suppressor host. Does anyone know if the geissele reaction rod will work for this? Im not sure how to hold the upper steady while torquing on the new one. |
| I bought a new DD5 V5 back in June and also ordered a Midwest Industries AR10 reaction rod. The rod would not go past the forward assist. I removed the forward assist and then it wouldn't go into the lugs. I called DD to find out if maybe the barrel is clocked or is out of spec and that I haven't fired it yet. DD talked to their armorer and they wanted me to send the RR and DD5 to them so they sent a shipping label. I got the gun back a few days later stating that the Midwest and Geissele RR will not fit their guns due to the proprietary barrel and chamber as it's all machined as 1 piece and there is no barrel nut. I returned the RR to Midway and called Midwest tech support to give them the info I had. They said they were unaware of that will have their engineers look at it. I just clamp the barrel now for muzzle break change. |

I just clamp the barrel now for muzzle break change. Wow. I had the opposite experience. I just bought my DD5V3 this May. The MI works great with mine. I would up sending my upper to DD anyway because I could not get the Surefire FH on concentric. They fixed it using different shims than stock. |

However, Myself and several other coworkers own the Midwest Receiver Rod and it works perfectly fine on all of the DD5s we turn wrenches on. Something is out of whack here. |

I didn't bother asking to try another RR due to DD saying neither rod would work. The rifle is in 260 REM and shoots great and have never had any issues with it. Probably 500 rounds through it now. I'd hate to go through the hassle again trying another RR. |
