I am a new owner of the Colt AR6721 and have a few questions that the Colt website and manual are not able to answer: Want to know if the barrel is Chrome lined......? Barrel is Marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR I know that you should shoot the 5.56 through this but can I also use .223 (as the reciever is rollmarked as such?) Would also like to know when it was produced and if it was made in USA or Canada. Is it practical to swap the barrel out to the 1/7 M4 style? Thanks for any/all answers. |

Welcome to the website and Black Rifle Disease. I have a AR6721 also but an older 2004 model. All LE models are fully chrome lined. Yes shoot the 5.56 NATO as marked on your barrel, you could try commercial .223 but they're slightly weaker, if it doesn't work the action adequately stick with the mil type ammo. Your lower receiver should be US made by Colt Defense, see your rollmarks above the selector. Your upper receiver could either be made in the US with a letter 'C' forge mark behind the shell deflector or it could be made in Canada by Diemaco (now owned by Colt) if it have a stylized letter 'D' symbol logo, see picture below. My upper is made by Diemaco and it works fine. Yes you could change your barrel to a M4 type barrel to make it lighter and shoot heavier bullets, if you're not going to do it yourself I would recommend ADCO Firearms. Another option is to buy a complete 6920 upper in the Equipment Exchange of this same site and either keep your original upper or sell it. I changed my barrel myself using proper tools with a medium contour, mid length gas system, 16" barrel and it's smoother action, more handguard area, longer sight radius and slightly lighter than my old barrel which I sold. ![]() Photo originally posted by moderator KevinB in the Lower Receiver & Mag Floorplate Rollmarks, Logos and Markings thread |

I just found this thread. I picked up a 6721 from lay away last Friday. After seeing the picture above it got me wondering. Thought it said Hartford, Conn. and it does. Same place left side above the trigger it says: Colt Defense Hartford, Conn -----USA----- Would that be before they went to Canada or are the made in both places simutaniously???? |
All current production Colt lowers have Colt Defense at the left side above the trigger group. The picture above is just for the Canadian market only and is only a reference for the Diemaco stylized letter 'D' logo. Current Colt uppers either have the 'C' (US made) or the stylized 'D' (Diemaco of Canada) forging marks, the stylized 'D' logo symbol is the same logo in the above pic. Congrats, enjoy your rifle.
