@129.99 http://palmettostatearmory.com/a2-rifle-build-kit.html @125.95 I ordered a 20 inch upper, and without thinking enough, ordered the first link to complete a stripped lower. I glanced over the descriptions, and went with the slightly more expensive kit assuming the "freedom" branding was some sort of upgrade. Although I can't find out the actual differences in parts from the descriptions, reading up on the "freedom" line returns results of budget projects. Did I just pay extra for lesser parts? Not off to a good start.

I've been trying to figure out all the 'categorizing' wording also.
Freedom? Classic? PTAC? Premium? Some of the times the difference is obvious, such as a chrome lined bore, etc... Other times not so much... Say, for instance what type (or tier, which is what they seem to be implying) of LPK are you getting when you order this? Palmetto State Armory MOE+ LPK - Black - 2556 ....and how is it different from this? (that I have on order already) Palmetto State Armory MOE LPK - Black - 8436 ETA: To clarify: I am a pretty consistent customer, seven orders just this year, and I still can't figure 'WTF?' out either. |

Glad I'm not the only one. I've held off on orders for awhile before I was satisfied that I'd deciphered the confusing nomenclature. You figured it out? Let us know... I've always ordered knowing I'd at least get my money's worth but still don't see an exact correlation between the minutiae and the hype words ('nomenclature' as you put it.) |

I thought it was pretty obvious. PTAC < Freedom < Classic < Premium So why does the Freedom A2 build kit cost more than the classic? And that may be obvious to the initiated, but I see nothing making such clear and simple conclusions on the PSA page. I suspect to the less involved the nomenclature can be rather confusing, or even discouraging, with such lacking descriptions. And given the nature of PSA's stocking, to complete a build, sometimes you need to order something quickly, or else it'll be out of stock. I suppose my lesson here is not to assume sticker price is reflective of quality, but other than the branding, there wasn't much for me to go by from the descriptions. EDIT: And now the freedom A2 lower build kit is $109.99 with free shipping, before my order is out of processing. Ouch. |

The classic lower build kits will contain all of the standard mil-spec parts needed to complete a stripped lower receiver. The freedom and PTAC kits come with slightly more streamlined and economical parts so you'll save a bit of money by purchasing our freedom series in lieu of the classic or defender kits. The defender kits will come with a few slightly upgraded parts such as the ambidextrous safety and double loop latch plate. |
