So long now! Super gas block arrived today. I should have known USPS wouldn't get it here on Saturday. They don't get anything to NW MT on time. The G SGB is definitely the best fit of the set screw gas blocks I have on hand. The VLTOR clamp is honestly tighter (without the screws in) and appeared like everything lined up well. I do really like the indexing pin with the SBG and that also makes this rifle pretty much completely Geissele aside from mag release and safety selector. I'll need to get a shorter screw for my bipod, or try moving it back a little as it is very easy to flex the MK14 so the back screw touches the gas block. Super excited to get this out to the range! We cannot recommend enough signing up for the back-in-stock notifications on the SPR page. I have a link here: https://geissele.com/geissele-spr-barrel.html We do not have a firm ETA quite yet, but we can say that we are actively working on getting more 18" barrels made. We do not have 16" barrels as an option, but with the attention these barrels are getting, we are pushing all feedback to our project teams as quickly as possible. If we come out with other variants we will update the thread! |
|
@GACS do you have any suggestions on where to find a gas block? Im afraid my adco ordered one is gone. I'm really not wanting to experiment with other brands on this, but this is the *only* component I'm waiting on. Thanks! Also, if you have any break in suggestions, I'd appreciate it. |

We are working with our assembly team to try and get a better ETA and see when they will be available again. If any dealers get new shipments we will try and get an update here as well. |

So while these barrels aren't clone correct, I'm only trying to build a Mk12-ish Mod 0 and this barrels is of great interest to me. Would the PRI flip-up front sight gas block offer enough meat for the Phased Array gas system?

Thank you for posting some measurements, we were looking to see if we happen to have that gas block on another rifle in our inventory, but were unable to find one. If anyone can locate dimensions for the PRI Flip Up we can see if they are compatible, but just from a first glance we also believe it is going to be CLOSE. |

After sitting in USPS purgatory for two weeks, my original gas block arrived. The replacement, which was supposed to be delivered yesterday, got routed from a close distribution center to a completely different state. USPS also severely delayed a tripod adapter........so my last 3/3 experiences with them have been garbage. Alas, here she is. Assuming she shoots BH 77 OTM well, this will be a work rifle replacing an upper with a Centurion 18" SPR barrel. So, I swear this is the last time I will ask this, but I haven't gotten an answer yet. Is there *any* recommended break in procedure for these barrels? Attached File Attached File |

Yeah, thats why I was hoping for some guidance from the mothership. My KAC 6.5 22" break in procedure as outlined from KAC was basically to sacrifice a goat, summon a shaman, raindance in between cleanings and then complete a rubix cube while naked underwater in a straight jacket. It was quite involved. But the end result is that its an *absolute* hammer. Most accurate gasser I've ever shot. I'd hate to miss an opportunity to have the G barrel perform the same if they have something they recommend! I also have access to an indoor range that I can complete the break in at, rather than lugging everything to the outdoor range etc. |

My SOCOM can is a 762-mini, so it works for me as well. Id like to Geissele come out with a URG-i type upper with this barrel in the future, which is exactly how I plan to build it. |

Last Friday I got the barrel up to 100 rounds and zeroed it for a factory 85gr Nosler RDF load. Was shooting consistent 1" groups with my Diligent Defense Enticer S (so quiet!). I then shot my first precision match ever on Saturday. The 85gr Nosler RDF has a pretty dang high BC and at 2,638 FPS, the holds were not bad. 3.1 mils at 500, 5.4 at 700, etc. I was the only shooter of 62 shooting a gas gun and .223 . I think I placed 45th overall which doesn't seem too bad considering I've never shot past 600 yards or so, and that has all been at large steel. This match had mostly 1.5-3 MOA targets with the closest target being 311 yards and the furthest being 1,280 yards. Wind was calm for the first few stages (total of 8), then bumped to 7-10 mph with gusts over 17 mph. Each stage had 4 targets and each target required 2-3 shots. I did make hits at 852 yards when it was clam, as well as 945 and 980 with a 7-10 mph wind (from 10-10:30). Drops from my Chairgun Elite were spot on even at 1,280 yards. I didn't hit it, but the spot said all my misses had good elevation but were wide in the direction the wind was blowing. All the different positions were hard to stabilize for me. In the end I had 19 of 75 hits. Definitely reflects on my ability, not the rifle or even ammo I don't think. So, yesterday I cleaned the barrel and took a few factory loads as well as a couple load ladders with me to the indoor range. Had a better setup and made a makeshift mirage shield (worked pretty well!). The 85gr load didn't shoot as well again last night, but I had some decent results. The barrel did not like Hornady Match 73gr or FGMM 73gr Bergers. It shot a .855" 5-shot group with 52gr SMK's and a random load of Staball Match that had an average velocity of 3,020 FPS. It did like Hornady Match 75gr (which is slow) and the Bone Frog 77gr. Setup Attached File 52gr SMK Attached File Hornady Match 75gr (white box) .625" Attached File Bone Frog 77gr .710" Attached File |

@GACS Buffer recommendations? I’m using all G parts with an H2 and the rifle will cycle but not lock. My factory gas block felt to me to be possibly on the looser side, but it was the only one I had available during the build. By loose, I mean no resistance when sliding it in place, but not “wobble” so to speak. If it’s supposed to be locking back reliably with an H2 or H3 buffer, then I will swap the gas block. If however, the recommendation is to use an H1 buffer, I will try that first. Rifle is not suppressed. Ammo black hills 556 77 OTM. Normally I’d have time to trouble shoot, but I’m hoping to have this solved for wednesdays range trip and make sure my Loctite has 24 hours to set. |
|
Tried the H1 today. First round of PMC locked back so I figured I was good. I wasn’t. It would run fine with either PMC or BH, then randomly fail to strip a round from the magazine. Usually these things are all or nothing, I’ve never had one go at random like this. Going to try a different BCG, then it will be on to the gas block. Given how loose mine was with zero resistance on the gas block journal, my gut tells me that’s what it is. |

Yeah, I was hoping the H1 buffer in conjunction with some good old fashioned carbon would have done it....but unfortunately not the case. Range is almost an hour away. Looks like tomorrow is going to be 2 hours and 10 minutes to drive there and back and fire 30 rounds of PMC with the swapped BCG. Hoping its not going to be a waste of 30 rounds, gas, and time, but I'm fully prepared for it to be
