Hi PSA, we have been using your micro dagger mags with the G48 and so far pretty good. The only downside is the follower occasionally seems to hang up with the Excess Arms +5 extension that we have been using. Will PSA be coming out with an OEM +5 for these mags? Thanks! See 11/22/24 update for my testing of S15 +5 extensions on the PSA Micro Dagger magazine. To be very clear, the PSA Micro Dagger magazine is flawless in operation. After much time and effort I cannot say the same about the S15 mags. So to solve the lack of a reliable +5 for the PSA mag, I made some hybrids that so far work great. S15 extensions do not work. I am converting all my PSA mags back to 15 rounds. And I like the PSA mags so much I just ordered a bunch more blems. |

Quoted: I'd like to see some 20rnd mags too, but I'd say it's better to just make longer mags and reduce the number of parts and failure points. Just not a fan of extension if I can avoid them. Typically with longer mag extensions, if they're so long that the entire follower (and a round or two) ends up down inside the extension part when fully loaded, it has a potential for a hang-up to occur when it tries to travel back up into the main mag tube past the junction, and that could be worsened by the micro Dagger mags because of the plastic flashing bits inside from the front overmolding. I'd probably not use an extension that long on the stock mag, would have to look at the geometry but one where all the loaded rounds and the top of the follower remain inside the mag tube when full would probably be more reliable. |

I found these and I would recommend. https://excessarms.com/5-round-mag-extension-for-psa-dagger-micro-mag-black-anodized/ https://excessarms.com/2-round-mag-extension-for-psa-dagger-micro-mag-black-anodized/ The +2 actually holds+3 perfectly for a 18rd total capacity. Very well made too. |

Not only that but it's cheaper to go one piece- I really don't want to spend more on an extension than the magazine cost. I'm sure those Excess Arms extensions are great products, but $70+ for a single magazine is insane (mag price plus price of extension), especially for what is supposed to be a budget friendly gun. |

My apologies, I need to pay more attention and not rush to failure. Quoted: Not only that but it's cheaper to go one piece- I really don't want to spend more on an extension than the magazine cost. Quoted: You all have put the idea of a long tube 20 round G48 magazine into my head and I will not be satisfied with anything less! Thanks in advance PSA, this product is gonna be a game changer in the G43X/G48 world. ![]() Provided I end up happy with my gun, I'll definitely buy some 20s if they make them! I like the extra capacity mags for spares for whatever I'm carrying. Stats say you'll never need your gun much less spare ammo, but if I do need a second reload then things have really gone pear shaped. |

I took my PSA mags apart with the Excess Arms +5 extensions and two of the mags got hung up while I was unloading them. The rounds just poured out. It was easy to look down and see the follower hung up on the bottom of the mag tube after having been compressed down into the extension. PSA, you know what to do! 20 round mag tubes! |

Quoted: I would put that in the product suggestion thread. Thanks! Josiah PSA: I fear that this request got lost in the long product suggestion thread. If you are remotely interested in pursuing this (and you should be), contact me offline. We shoot G48’s in USPSA and can give you feedback if you want to send me a couple of prototype extendos…. I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley. |

PSA: Any consideration of this? We have been running your Micro Dagger mags hard in two G48's and they have not given us a single problem. I have been very impressed with them. The Micro Dagger community needs a reliable 20 round magazine. Extending the tube of your current magazine seems to be the most logical way to accomplish that. (And yes, I did post this in the product suggestion thread. Which is 17 pages of random thoughts interspersed with some serious suggestions that get lost in the noise.) These 20 round Micro Dagger mags would be legit, and need to be a priority. Thanks. |

Based on comments in the other thread (IIRC) I understand why some folks prefer the extensions so as to prevent over-insertion, but that's an easy fix with a sleeve (ex. S&W Shield mags) or tab (ex. Wilson 10rnd 1911 mags) and I still see a smooth inside channel being less problematic than an extension. I'm in for at least two if they were to become available. |

If they make these 20 round Micro Dagger mags, I am in for 12. The Micro Dagger is a super capable gun based in my experience with the G48. They are great for concealment and are big enough to be shot a lot including competition. The only thing holding them back is a 20 round magazine. Even for CCW my preference is standard length mag in the gun and a longer higher cap spare mag. Look at the market for the Sheild Arms +5 extensions and how many you see in online gun glamour shots. PSA has basically taken the 15 round G48 market, now they just need to follow through with a 20 round mag. We have run these PSA mags hard and have not had a mag related problem. |

PSA, is there no interest in this? It seems kinda like a no brainer to me, and not much of an engineering feat once you got the 15's dialed in. I thought I read somewhere on the interweb that you may have been thinking about a +5 extension. And I posted in the product suggestion thread. But so far it's just crickets.... You gave us 15 rounds in the G43X/48 platform. How about 20 for carry and competitions? Is this something you are even willing to consider? |

I am not aware of a +5 extension, but that is for our product development/engineering team to prioritize ideas and see what they want to work on. We hear you and a few of the higher ups look at these threads on ARF. We are just dealing with a ton of irons already in the fire! Thank you, Josiah |

We hear you and a few of the higher ups look at these threads on ARF. We are just dealing with a ton of irons already in the fire! Thank you, Josiah Roger, I get that! You all are doing great things! But it would seem to me like 90% of the work on these mags is done. Extend the tube, test the size of spring you need based off of G19 +5 springs, and send a couple out to me to beta test! I will run them hard in training and competition. Last winter the standard PSA Micro Dagger mags survived a season of getting dropped on concrete every week and they didn’t fail me in stock format. The +5’s I tried had too much fore and aft play on the bottom of the mag tube, which left the bottom front of the tube exposed for the follower to get hung up on. The front of the follower got caught on that, the rear of the follower kept going up, and the follower got jammed at a 45 degree angle down there leaving a rattling mess of loose rounds in the mag. I am serious about beta testing them too. I almost exclusively carry and shoot a G48. Send me an IM here if you are interested in moving this forward. |

I can confirm that Shield Arms S15 mag extensions fit the PSA Micro Dagger magazine if you dremel off the front plastic tab around the bottom front of the PSA mag. The inside transition from mag tube to extension appears to be smooth. I will test fire them this weekend, but I can get 20 rounds in the magazine. I am using the longer spring that came with the S15 extension along with the PSA follower.. PSA, I got tired of waiting for a product that you should have released 6 months after the Micro Dagger mags.** No, this is not ideal. But if this works I will be converting a couple of other PSA Micro Dagger mags to take the S15 extensions. If PSA comes out with some extended tube 20 round mags I will definitely buy them. But I'm not holding my breath.... ** I didn't want to sound that harsh, but it seems like this Micro Dagger mag was launched and then neglected. Which is really too bad because it is fantastic. For us it has worked flawlessly for matches and withstood a steady diet of being dropped loaded onto a concrete indoor range floor. For those carrying the PSA Micro Dagger, I am surprised that they have not been given a 20 round spare mag option. |

Quoted: I bought extensions from Excess Arms, but a less expensive factory option would be nice. They bind. I tried them. The interior dimensions are too large and let the follower hang up and bind, giving you a loose mag full of rounds. Trust me, I tried. And for that who say they work great, keep in mind that we shot thousands of rounds in practice and USPSA matches. Yes the Excess Arms extensions will work for a couple of mags at the range. But shoot more and you will see the problems. |

The franken mag (PSA with S15 +5) worked great at an indoor USPSA match and training outdoor just before the match. I used it every stage and it got dropped loaded with no issues. PSA, an extended tube 20 round Micro Dagger mag would be a huge seller. I do not want to have to buy any more S15 extensions and modify the PSA mags if I don’t have to. Serious, divert some time away from dumb themed AR15 lowers and develop this mag a bit more! |

I think I cracked the code. S15 +5's on PSA Micro Dagger mags with a G19 follower. I bought an S15 +5 on sale for $30 and tested it pretty hard with zero issues. When Shield Arms recently had a blem sale I picked up five more extensions at $20 each. I used a dremel sanding drum and took the front plastic lip off until just above the semi circle relief on the metal. The extensions appear to be tilted slightly back, so the front of the extension is not quite parallel with the front of the mag. But the interior seam between the extension and mag is very smooth, so I don’t care about the slight tilt as long as they work. One of the advantages of the S15 +5 is that the base is removable so you can inspect the alignment and seam. You cannot do that with the closed bottom Excess Arms extension (which does NOT line up correctly and catches the follower). Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Incidentally, the only problem that I have run into with the PSA Micro Dagger mags is the followers tend to crack over time and use. This is maybe the third or fourth that I have had crack. Keep in mind that I probably have 4,000+ rounds on 8 mags in 2024. They get used hard for training and during USPSA (in winter they get constantly dropped loaded on the concrete floor). I shoot my carry gun G48 at USPSA and really like it, particularly with 15 and 20 round mags. I have not had a single issue with the PSA baseplates, but I do know that metal baseplates are available from other companies. To deal with the cracked follower issue, I have been using G19 followers. I heard (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the PSA followers were printed. They are probably the weak point of the entire mag. Everything else is pretty great! Attached File |

I haven't experienced any of the cracked followers yet. But my rd count is still low on the PSA mags. I'll order some plus 5s and give this a shot. How long ago did you order your mags? I wonder if they are gen 1 mags. I'm assuming they are on gen 2 by now. @51R |

How long ago did you order your mags? I wonder if they are gen 1 mags. I'm assuming they are on gen 2 by now. @51R After I ejected from the S15 mags and mag catch, I initially moved to a whole pile of OEM G48 mags, some with a +4 (which really only took 13). My theory was make sure the gun worked every time. Then I was waiting for the PSA mags to be in stock so I could try them. I stared with just one or two. I ordered PSA mags over the course of several months at the end of 2023 through early to mid 2024. I heard (and could be wrong) that the first followers were molded similar to a G19 follower but that those were quickly changed to the printed followers like in the pic I posted. All of mine are like that printed follower. I recall there could be an issue with the G19 followers not locking the slide back, but will test that. The one mag I currently have with a G19 follower does lock the slide back. I recall trying it before and for some reason going back to the PSA followers, which are now in short supply. I currently have more PSA mag bodies than PSA followers to assemble them all. I’ll make a push to build them up and test the G19 followers for a few weeks. |

One of the six mags that I modified to 20 rounds is binding with both the PSA follower and a G19 follower. The follower seems to bind at the front semi circular cut out at the bottom of the mag body. Here are some pics with a Gen 5 G19 follower (which otherwise seems to work great — the slide locks back and mag accepts 20 rounds). Rounding the front of the follower did not seem to make a difference. I did not round the slide lock engagement point, and that area did not seem like it was causing a problem. I am going to order six G19 followers to test those in the PSA/S15 20 round mags. The other mags seemed to do well at a recent indoor USPSA match. Attached File Attached File |

Two more of the PSA/S15 20 round mags bound. I think this experiment is gonna be a bust. I’m about ready to switch them all back to 15 round mags. PSA if you are doing any R&D on 20 round mags, the semi-circular cut out on the front bottom of the mag tube may be what is binding up the follower when using an extension. Is that a necessary part of the design? The best solution would be a longer mag tube. I am willing to do some real world beta testing for you if needed! I am a huge supporter of the PSA Micro Dagger mags and want to help get you across the line with a 20 round option! Seriously let me know. |

Quoted: I've been running these for a while now and I haven't had any failures. Just curious on round count and the conditions in which you use it. I found the Excess Arms extensions to be very unreliable. And unfortunately now also the S15 extensions. If you are using them without the follower binding, I am curious as to the circumstances and maybe if you have an pictures of the mag body (bottom front) and follower. Thanks. |
