Being that none of my long range shooting is life or death situations anymore. If my first round gets me within 6-12" of the target at 600+...I'm happy. I don't shoot enough to expect first round hits at those ranges but I do expect second & subsequent round hits. 500 and in I'm pretty comfortable. Last above average shot I took that mattered was on a Black Buck at 417 yards. First round hit with a .270 that I'd owned for only 24 hours.
This whole brand new house thing has put a MAJOR drain on shooting time. However, I told the fiance that this Sunday I'm taking the .260 and 25-06 to the range in preparation for a hunting trip in a couple weeks. |

So if I can apparently buy an UU for this in FDE or UDE and get a lower to match why can't I just buy a complete custom build in any finish I want?
I'm sure this has been asked or mentioned before but I just want to buy it. I'd rather not put it together. I want it to be fined tuned by all the good folks at LaRue. |

I finally got time to go to the range today, woot! Sorry no pics..... I don't see the need to keep saving .5" targets(5 shot groups)  !
Switched to the orange springco buffer spring. I can shoot on the suppressed setting with my tranquilo and H130M rounds and it will lock open on the last round. It's still throwing about the 1:30 position but I can live with that for the non existent recoil and reliable lock back. When we go hog hunting next weekend I'll just run it on unsuppressed to ensure 100% reliability. I didn't even think to see what it would do on the unsuppressed setting with the suppressor on.

@LaRue_Tactical I wish a super cold front would have hit by now......we're headed down to Uvalde to shwack some whitetail and gemsbok this weekend. I'll let you know how the 260 does. |

I have a shitake ton of stuff to catch up on, cleaning and organizing the play area for starters. I've been busy working back-to-back-to-back proposals and haven't had much free time lately. Well, except to cash in on BuildAR Qtr 8 and the Divorce Sale.

D3 we need to see if we can get good results with the flatlines. I might buy a few here shortly, if you want to try them I think it would be good to get your loading input.
Its not a viable high volume thing, but I think it would be cool to see how good they are and a fun experiment. Looks like you settled on a bushing range of .289 to .290? Would I be safe to also get a couple more up or down just in case? Or is there no need so far with your experience? |

As to the flatlines, I've thought about them and the Cutting Edge solids, but I'm not sure what benefit we'd gain? We can't really shoot them at 100 and I'm really not having any issues going out to 1000 with the 130ELDs or handloads. The limitations aren't with the weapon, rather they are with the shooter. So, given that, I put the $100 back in my pocket. I'll be happy to shoot your flatlines and post a report though.

I agree with the performance thus far. And really the only thing they are going to do is improve extended range performance. Speed would be up as well, and I think performance at shorter ranges would be better, but like you say keep the money in pocket and shoot ELDms.
I am curious on what MVs we would see and just how they end up shooting. I am not doubting that 3000 fps would be a ball park number, and with that bullet the range is another 400 meters to subsonic beyond what I was seeing in applied ballistics. Not that I have 1800 meters on hand

Not that I have 1800 meters on hand At $2-$3 a shot for the flatlines, it could take a bit to get dialed in considering they shot so differently than the ELDs. I just feel bad spending $30 to re-zero and $30 more to get on target at range. Strange though, I'm probably $6K into this thread and worried about $30.

Ok story time.
The guide knew this buck was around so we went to the same stand 3 times over the trip. Third trip he came out about 10 minutes before hunting time was up. Mosied in from about 250yds out straight from us. He started peddling around at about 115yrds. I figured that was the best we were going to get distance wise, so we waited until he went broadside and paused for enjoy a mouthful of oats. Shwack.....130gr ELD-M bullet straight through the heart and the far lung from us. He jumped and took off into the brush. Now here is when the "fun" begins. We waited a good 15 minutes before leaving the blind to track him. We made it down to where I hit him and we found ONE drop of blood smaller than the size of a dime. Luckily he took off down a deer trail. The guide followed the trail and I followed an adjacent trail, we couldn't find any blood. About 20 yards in, on my guide's trail, he found the buck laying there. The autopsy revealed a heart in about 5 or 6 pieces and a lung cut in half. I was impressed by the massive amount of damage the bullet did but not how it achieved it. The ELD-M fragmented in to a TON of pieces and left almost no exit wound(which is not conducive for tracking game). I took a doe as well. Single shot destroyed both her lungs and heart....again almost no exit wound. She jumped up after I hit her and keeled over backwards; she was dead before she hit the ground. Got some time on 600yd steel while I was there. My dope for 600 with the factory Hornady 130gr ELD-M is 4.3mils. Took two shots to get on the gong and then we were banging it out no problem. Super happy with the trip and the success we had. I learned I need to find a purpose built hunting round if I take the 260 out again. |
