| You know I get to speak with many people in my job and even run into some pretty good people from time to time. On of the things that I always find interesting is how much money people will spend buying the perfect rifle/gun. People will speak as if they are a seasoned shooters and have many of the coolest items hanging from their rifles. When we speak further I find that they have little to no training and do not even have mush in the way of ammo. When I talk to them about finding good training and learning how to shoot better they often act as if I had offended them. So for me here it is get a good rifle, a good sight, good ammo and the best training you can find. Do not tell me you cannot pay for a good training class after buying you 8th AR15 and a new truck. Training as hard as you can and with the best trainers you can find for someday you life might be on the line. |

Go back and read my post about asking about the people that post on here about concealed carry and how much training they do with their weapon. And the sad truth is that most do NOT train with their weapon. Lack of training and having an over-reliance on the firearm to get you out of harm's way is a surefire recipe for ending up dead. You will be more likely to have your gun taken away from you and then used on you. It is like when I am at the range.....I see people all the time have to physcially rotate their rifle in order to look to see if the gun is on "safe".....instead of being instinctive and knowing where your finger is on the switch. Those 3 to 5 seconds can make the difference.
Take it easy.......I will be at the range on Sunday morning.............practice, practice, practice. |

I shoot a lot - every day that I am not on the slope at work and it's above -20F. Been doing it for many years. I burn a lot of ammo. Got stuff hanging off my rifles. Practice with my carry guns. Sometimes place in competitions. Do I really want or need formal training? ABSOLUTELY! I have no tactical training. No long distance rifle skills. Sure I can hit a target but to think how much better I could be at it, to not have to think about how to perform or what to do in a situation when that time comes (though I hope it never does). It could literally make the difference between life or death. Hell yes I need and want training. It would only make me that much better. I have no illusions about my skill levels, how poor they really are, and how much I could benefit from real training. It's only my copius practice and repetition that allows me to fair as well as I do but that is no substitute for proper training. There is always more to learn and learn about yourself. When I am finally free to take classes, I will be doing so. |

I couldnt agree more Another segment that really irks the shit out of me are the people who take one class, become "experts" and from then on are good to go. And its not just about ending up dead, its also about killing an innocent in the process. |
I play alot of X box that is my training!!!
That being said does anybody know anything about condition red training here in anchorage any good for a cheap first class. i haven't actually had any "tactical" training and spending 600 bucks on a class, 350 on ammo, and a day or two off work for one of AK tactical's classes(supposed to be top notch though) kinds scares me. |
