Where is a good place to take my car around Atlanta to get the windows tinted?
Also, what are the laws about tinting? I know you can't go too dark, but what is too dark? |

32% is the legal limit in GA. front and back side windows and rear window. On trucks and SUVs it's 32% front side windows and there is no limit on back side windows or the rear window. You can also tint, I believe, the top 6 inches of the windshield.
At one time I had a car with 5%. Got pulled over three times, one ticket. YMMV. I had mine done at a place called Klassy in Riverdale. They did a great job. That was around 1998 or so though. ETA - the percentage is the amount of light transmission, so the higher the percentage the lighter the tint. |

If your on the west side use sound proof in Douglasville. Randy and Larry Weaver have been doing car stuff since '89. +1 for SoundProof. They have done all my cars and I have referred MANY happy customers to them. A car ran about $125 or so the last time I had one done. |

Around here (hinesville), window tint will get you automatically arrested. Most of us wont bother you if your are above 20% though. Not trying to turn this into a cop bashing thread (I'm assuming you're LEO) being arrested for window tint is a bit excessive. |

Me: Had my car's windows tinted. Inmate: What? Me: Yup you heard correctly. Inmate is rushed to hospital with busted gut from laughing so hard. And thanks everybody. |

Hinesville sounds like a pretty free section of town - wonder why more industry doesn't locate there? |

| I'm glad police officers where I live spend taxpayer dollars doing real police work.don't get me wrong if I was ticketed for speeding or tint I would pay the fines.but putting people in jail for something minor like that counterproductive to the relationship with the public. |

I was running 5% over 15% on the front rollups 40% on the windshield with 5% over 15% on the top six inches and 5% on the rears that where already factory tinted 15% the fronts registered a 2.5 of the GSP's tint meter he was actually impressed but still gave a ticked 75.00 in Newton Co.
My current truck is 20% on the rollups to match the factory tint 50% on the windshield with 20% at the top six. 32% is legal limit for front rollups and they only make 35% |

I got my car done here: The Tint Guy
Great work from a professional shop, not some dude out of his van. They use good 3M film and don't hack around the 3rd brake light. |

I don't really enforce it. Now if I get you for a DUI or something else, I will add it to the bill.

That's how I would hope all LEOs enforce tint laws. I always said if I got pulled over for speeding or running a light or something and they tagged a tint citation on then I deserve that. It's just being pulled over SPECIFICALLY for tint that sucks, especially if it results in an arrest barring any other offence. |
