First, is the big gun show, coming up in april worth going to?

Second, is there any particular dealer that a lot of you guys use for transfers in the Tulsa area?  I built my best friend, who lives in Tulsa, AK for his last birthday and I need to get it sent out there for him.

The Tulsa gun show is unlike any other I've been to.  I've never bought much there, but you will see some awesome guns......11 acres of tables that are too damn close to allow those damn rovers (DAN!!!!).

Wear some good shoes.  I wore some new boots once, and was damn near in tears that night!

You jerk.   I did own an electric powered wheel chair that I got for Old Bud before he died. But I don't need one.

Oh I have to agree, this show is by far the best I've ever been too. It's definitely worth it.

I don't want to be there!!!

No really, you guys make out Tulsa to be a much worse place that I felt it was when I was there in December.  I liked it out there and even was able to enjoy the hell out of Braum's, Ron's, Goldies, Some Irish Pub type place that has the best patty melt available and a few other places.

I already don't go to any gunshows here in Georgia.  They all SUCK!  Bad prices, lots of jerky, beany babies and other crap.

The Tulsa Wannemacher show is huge. So many people you can't see the stuff on the tables, people walk around smacking others with the end of the long guns they are carrying, traffic so thick you can get past others between the aisles, etc.
And the people behind the tables are like vultures waiting to find some sucker who will swallow all their BS and let them take all their money.
There are deals  and LOTS and LOTS of stuff. But seeing them and getting to them takes time. And you'd better not mind the smell of other people from eating chili dogs with onions, sweating, and farting.
I hate the crowds but love the diversity of items you can find.
Finding an item you want can be hard. And then it might be ridiculously high, or might not be.
It's worth going once. And you might find the deal of the century if one of the vultures at the door don't snarf it up first.
I once took a NM Winchester Garand to Tulsa. I didn't get more than 100 feet from the door for an hour. I had some many people looking at it, wanting to finger f*ck it, but not buy it, I couldn't get around. I finally took it back to the truck and came back in without it.
There is something else you might find, especially in tougher economic time. Lots of lookers, but sometimes very few buyers.
Selling seems to be difficult at Tulsa, for me anyway. If you want a fair price, you'll have to get lucky to sell something.
Everybody wants a premium for theirs but yours isn't worth much. You'll have much better luck selling to other customers than the vultures behind the tables.
Go, at least once, and have a good time.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. It's pretty well established that I am a hater of the "big" Tulsa gunshow.

A few reasons why; Sweaty, stinking ass crowds. Now I'm not talking about your normal, garden variety crowds. I'm talking about basic training in line at the mess hall, asshole to belly button right after getting smoked by the biggest meanest drill sergeant you've ever seen kinda crowds. The exception is that these crowds move in a sweaty stinky mass, blabbering on about how the winchester they are currently looking at is a good deal at $5000, swinging the damn thing around without care or concern for the other members of the mass of stinkin' ass flesh.

Also, exactly how many old winchester lever guns and colt SAA 6 guns can you look at in a day before your damn eyes cross? You WILL find out if you go to that show. Why, you ask? Because at least 98% of the remaining aforementioned guns in existance will be there (surprisingly enough, Billy the Kid carried most of them).

Did I mention the mass of stinkin ass, inconsiderate bastards that will be choking the aisles? The ones that know absolutely everything about every gun there.

Theres also the scooter trash. Thats the guys riding those damn "rascal scooters" or whatever in the hell they are called. Driving around without a care in the world. No concern whatsoever for anyone elses shins, ankles, toes, whatever. Do not get in thier way.

Not to mention the high prices there. Just wait until its over and you can read all about it here.

Now Dan and the rest of the forum old geezers will come on and tell us all about how it USED to be a great show (back in 1890 or whenever the old geezers first started attending gunshows) "back in the day". Guess what? They were ALL much better "back in the day". Know what happened? The INTERNET has or will kill gunshows. Just like its killing automotive swap meets.

When I first wrote my little rant, I actually almost said "not you Sam"

I always buy my tickets a day or so before the show and then show up about 10 minutes before doors open and then walk right in when the doors open. I go by myself usually and I walk fairly fast, so I can hit a fair part o the show before it gets really crowded. I hate the crowds almost as much as Dan, Chuck, Rat, Fister and any of the other old farts on the board. This is about the only show I go to, I'd go to the 1500 in Indianapolis if I had the opportunity.

Fister=old??

What are you, 12?

Speaking of Fister, he is a good person to go to the show with.  You can follow him like a quail hunter, and when he goes "birdie" around a table, run over and shove him out of the way.  You can get some great deals that way!

Thats true, but sometimes he bounces around from aisle to aisle, table to table like a pinball in a machine.

I always prefered the big gun show in OKC that was held at the myriad back in the 80's, lots of great deals there, hated to see it cease.

I haven't been to the tulsa show in a long damn time, because I pretty well think of the place like Chuck described above.
