| How is Revelation Arms at threading? Quoted $50 and 1-2 day turn. |
That's what I thought. I seem to remember someone bitching about them. I guess it's down to Island Greens to get another box (gold club boxes are great for shipping uppers) and mail the fcker off to AR15Barrels and paying 95 plus bucks - round trip. (Pat referred me to TROS but talking to TROS I found he's way backlogged and I still have to mail it.. and BTW, what happened to the discount that was mentioned in the GB thread?) |
| You could always try Steve at ADCO firearms. He charges $65 for threading barrells. It's a little more than some of the others charge, but he's a dealer here at Arfcom that it seems nobody ever has anything bad to say about. When possible I like to support AR15.com affiliated businesses. |
I'll send it there. AR15Barrels.com wants 40 for tear down of my upper, 30 to thread and 15 to ship it back. ADCO is 65 to tear down and thread and 4 to ship back (6 w/insurance) |
| Keith's has a gunsmith that will thread them also. Last time I heard it was $60 to do it, and he is local out of Oregon City. I have had him work on other guns and have no bones about recommending him. He is one of Gresham PD's finest when he isn't gunsmithing. You might also contact Code3AK since he works for Keith, for more info. |

Here is a thread (with pictures) I had about getting my Bushy V-Match threaded: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=36&t=230479 I used ar15barrels.com He charges $30 for threading and $10 for return shipping ($15 if you have a mammoth barrel). He does a great job with a fast turnaround time. I cost me $10 to ship my barrel to him. I took my upper apart myself because it's EASY. No sense in paying someone to do it for you when it takes 3 or 4 tools and 20 minutes. Don't go to revelation arms. He screwed up 3 of Spambo's rifles. |
SAS does threading for $50 according to Tim there. I may just do that. |
Wow, over a month already for you. Did you ask how long it would take when you gave your barrel to him? |
+1 Roger is real nice guy so I really don't like bashing him but had a bad habit of not tourquing AR-15 barrels properly after threading. Also, my FAL barrel was ruined by the threading *job*. Century Arms must be providing training seminars! I wouldn't take any guns to RA. Spambo |
I think Rodger is still in Afganastan. His brother Ivan is doing the work right now. I can't say either way about him, I get mine done by TROS, I've been waiting since Jan. |
Well then either Roger is answering email from Afg. or Ivan is signing his name to the bottom of his email.... eta; all this waiting for TROS has me wondering just how long it will take to the the cans we ordered... I know, I know, he's waiting on the BATF/NFA..... but really? Seems to me they're doing record time in turning forms

Is this for an AR15? Just take your upper apart yourself and spend the $50 to ship the barrel off and get the barrel threaded at AR15barrles.com. His threading is top notch. What kind of upper do you have? I've taken apart uppers with USGI handguards and also an upper with a Bushmaster V-Match float tube. You need a hammer, some punches, a vice, either an upper receiver vice block (or, if you have a flat-top, wood blocks can work), and a barrel wrench (or a common strap wrench for a V-Match handguard). Check out the build-it-yourself forum. At the top they've tacked a thread with instructions to take apart an upper. |

I've almost none of those tools. cost me more to buy them than to just pay ADCO. I've had AR's all my adult life and this is the first time I've had the opportunity to take a bbl our of the upper. Point being, I don't have the tools as I've never needed them and after so many years of not needed them find it difficult to buy them now. ADCO will be fine for me. I'll post his work when it returns. It goes out tomorrow, btw. |
I'm more than a little dissapointed with TROS. A buddy of mine is purchasing a .223 and a .45 can direct from them (he paid them in full back on February 14th). He called the BATFE on Monday to check on the status of the cans and was told that his .223 can had been approved April 20th and the paperwork for his .45 can had been sent back to TROS due to a clerical error on April 5th. Keep in mind that he saw them at the booth at the gunshow in person on April 22nd and they didn't mention any of it. He called TROS Tuesday to ask about his cans and was told that his .223 can "wasn't done yet but that he would start working on it and it should be ready in a week or so". When he asked about the .45 can he was told "oh yeah, I remember seeing that come back" and told him that he'd "get the paperwork out in this week's mail" to the BATFE. I don't mind that they're busy and have a long wait, but I wish they'd be more up front and honest about their work load. |
Well, it's back from ADCO. What can I say? Job well done and the cherry on the cake is it was done fast, hassle free and I had on line progress on the order should I want it. By the time I went to check the status of the order (threading of my HBAR 16" upper complete) it was already on it's way back to me. Now I just have to go test/adjust the zeoo with the TAC16 on the end ![]() ETA: by the way, the charge was $69.00 which included return shipping. |
