I have also gotten a bobcat on camera starting around 2020. I email the ODNR when I first saw it and they were very interested. Here is what their biologist had to say about it…. Hi ZW17, I received a message that you captured a picture of a bobcat on your trail camera, and are looking for some information on bobcats in Licking County. Thanks for reaching out about this sighting. We collect reports of sightings from the public to track the distribution of bobcats. Licking County is on the western edge of the current distribution of bobcats in Ohio. The first confirmed sighting in Licking county was in 2006, but after that we didn’t receive another confirmed sighting until 2013. Confirmed sightings have some sort of evidence (photo, roadkill, etc.) that we can use to verify that the animal seen was in fact a bobcat. We’ve received less than 10 confirmed sightings each year from Licking county, although the number of confirmed sightings has gone up each of the past 3 years. In 2019 we received 9 confirmed sightings from Licking County, in comparison to 35 confirmed sightings in Muskingum County the same year. Most of the sightings reported in Licking county are in the eastern half of the county. All that is to say, sightings in Licking county aren’t very common, so if you’d be willing to share the trail camera picture with us, and provide some information on the location of your sighting (GPS coordinates, address, or nearest cross streets), that would be very useful information to add to our sightings database. You can either send this information directly to me, or submit it through our online sightings database |

I am watching two right now. The big dude only shows up once and awhile, and he’s always running. I am Trying to figure out why and what that means? My theory is that we live on the edge of his range, and something pushes him across and he’s uncomfortable. Of the 3 -4 videos I have of him, he’s always on the move and nervous. He going to be very hard to pin down unless he locks up with one of our local does. The tall basket rack has been a regular.

I know everything is going to naturally re-pattern in a week when the season starts, but having no sightings was starting to worry me. That running buck will be nice if you can get him. I'm not necessarily looking for a trophy this year. I have a few goals to fill the freezer. 1) Take one with my compound bow. I've only ever used crossbow, but I've been practicing and want a bit of a challenge. 2) Get both the boys on one. That would be more than enough to fill the freezer, and have a nice season. |

What part of Ohio are you hunting? Public or private? Lots of pressure? I am amazed you only have one doe on camera. I guess I take it for granted where I hunt. I don’t know that I have ever been skunked on cameras. Every night I have something. |

There isn't a ton of pressure, but the feeder does a decent job late season getting something to show up. Southern Ohio seems to have dried up, so I haven't had the option of being invited down there in years. I'm not completely skunked, just on deer. I see racoons and other wildlife almost every day. |
