I would assume that these will start up as this gets ready to be signed into law. Just a couple of questions on purchasing a suppressor. How long do we have to wait before we purchase and hold at a dealer awaiting ATF approval? Some updates say we are good as soon as signed into law. I have seen other places saying 90 days after signed into law. Just looking for some clarification as the model I want is tough to find and I tracked one down.
Thanks for the help!! |

Once the governor signs the bill its law. You can buy right away. There are many gun shops around Des Moines (Rhine Group Firearms & Controlled Chaos Arms) that will help with the suppressor stuff. Also check out silencershop.com they will help with all the steps and transfer to dealers who handle NFA stuff.

It's my understanding that it goes into effect as soon as it's signed by the governor. Now the waiting on the paperwork from the ATF to your dealer is the part that CAN take a long time and people should be aware of that ahead of time. Go to the NFA Forums and you will see some people who have waited up to a year for their suppressor or other NFA items due to ATF backlog or mistakes made on the initial paperwork that is rejected and sent back to the dealer to resubmit. With that in mind I feel it will be important to use a dealer that is experienced with the ATF as the surge of fellow Iowegians jumping on the suppressor bandwagon will be overwhelming for many dealers initially. Mistakes can happen to anyone though as nobody is perfect.
The past couple years I've traveled around and listened to various dealers talk about how they will become a "Class 3" Dealer if suppressors are legalized...it's amazing how the vast majority of them were just going to sit on the side lines until they're legalized and then reap all the new business that the suppressors will bring them. |

You paperwork is going to take much longer than 30 or even 90 days, so buy away IMO.
That said, between 41p(f?) and Iowa law passing, suppressors seem to be FLYING off the shelves. Just look at how devastated silencer shop's inventory is. I set up my trust and actually purchased a rimfire can through them to be delivered to CCA and when I went to fill out the last NFA steps through their website, Iowa isn't even a residence option at this point (even though several IA dealers are set up already).... So there's going to be some growing pains between inventories and law changes. |
| If looking at form 1. Grabcad.com has a few different plans. Need a solid works program and E- drawer to get all the info. I talked to the guy that has designed a few different types on the from mono baffle to K baffles. My plan is to do a form 1 with extra titanium and stainless we have at work and also do a form 4 |

They will sit at your dealer for approx. 6-7 months at this point. I recommend you start buying immediately since the suppressors will take at least 45 days to get to your dealers. |
