| I sent Congressman Ellsworth and Donnelly emails thanking them for signing the letter the Dems in Congress sent to that Attorney General about a AWB. I also sent a complaint to Baron Hill for not signing it. On Ellsworths website I found http://www.ellsworth.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=468 |

This got me to thinking, where is the Republicans version of this letter? Do you really think the AG needs a letter from the Republicans to know their viewpoint? I think the Dems put this one out there as way of saying, "Do NOT take this route or we'll ALL be out of a job in 2010." The Republicans have no such fear: they are already unemployed, and are not likely to support AWB legislation anyway. I dare say the letter from the Dems is about political survival for the long-term, not some deep-seated desire to protect RKBA. |

I recieved this email today. I am still waiting for one from Hill......
March 23, 2009 Dear Matt, Thank you for contacting me to voice your concern regarding weapon restrictions. I appreciate your comments and I welcome this opportunity to share my views. As you may know, I have been a law enforcement officer for most of my career and a hunter all my life. My experiences have taught me the importance of responsible firearm ownership and usage. Please know that during my time in Congress I will always protect the Second Amendment right for Americans to keep and bear arms and oppose efforts to impose burdensome regulations on gun-owners. Thanks again for taking the time to share your views with me. I need your input to make the best decisions possible, so please stay in touch! Sincerely, Brad Ellsworth |

That's good news to hear. I have emailed him 3 or 4 times concerning a variety of subjects and I've always gotten an email answer from him. I've emailed Bayh and Lugar, too. Lugar, I got a form/chain/canned email and Bayh I got nothing... I myself never get anything from Bayh either. As far as an AWB I think the dems here in IN know they are on a short leash. Olycar15 |

Baron Hill's office finally replies!
Thank you for contacting my office regarding a ban on assault weapons. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this important matter. Throughout my time as a legislator in the Indiana State Legislature and the U.S. Congress, I have been a proud supporter of gun owners' rights and will continue to work hard to protect your Constitutional right to bear arms. As a lifelong sportsman and gun owner, I understand the benefits of responsible gun ownership. Therefore, I am opposed to the assault weapons ban because I believe that it would place an undue burden on the right of our citizens to bear arms. Thank you again for contacting me about this important issue. Please do not hesitate to call me at 202.225.5315 if there is anything else that I can do for you. |
