I'm looking for some advice rather than the usual piss taking, ive a 300 whisper with a Leupold 1.5-5x20 SPR and a .223 with a NF 2.5-10x30.  both are mounted using ARMS mounts which despite an extended stock are still a little close to the mark 1 eyeball on max mag.  Does anyone know if the NF and the new Leupold Mark 2 mounts mount scopes further forward than the ARMS mount?

Never seen them so couldn't say, isn't that helpful?

Sorry Smudger - not seen them so can't offer any information.

I have a couple of these which I find offer good eye relief.

Leupold scopes scan be a little less forgiving on eye relief in my experience, but Nightforce are fine.  The La Rue mount should give you the eye relief you need.

Hope this helps.

LaRue LT 104 is the only way to go. You've spent good money on the glass, might as well get a quality mount for it.

Which ARMS mounts do you have?

I have an 35QD]ARMS #35 QD base with the medium height forward 35%20M]offset rings. This gives a decent amount of eye relief for the Viper PST that's currently fitted to my AR, although it is as far forward as it will go.

I'm using exactly what you have and the scope is a bit in my face.  I must have a long neck!! Thanks for all the help, LaRue it is I think.

Or you could use a hahn precision scout rail and use normal scope rings - see piccy

I just happen to know where one is available for a lot lot cheaper than a LaRue mount

Fair enough. Mine is only just enough forward, if the scope were any longer I'd be in the same position.
The LT-104 will definitely be OK and they are very nice mounts - I have one ordered for my .223

Oh!  Not in CSR?  I use the 300 Whisper at Aldershot R&PC quite a lot in leiu of of the run of the mill Marlins & Winchesters.  The .223 is more a fun gun which I've used in LERA Events in their open class and take it down to the Brecon Rifle Club on the 350 ETR.  My problem is that recently I've been shooting with the TA a lot and my duties as the LERA Treasurer, Training Officer and RCO keep me behind the point as opposed to on it.

Forget the winter months, I'm too busy game shooting!

I've got to be honest AR&PC ran a little comp which coincided with the last CSR Match at Bisley, I was very impressed with what I saw.  Not dissimilar to our (LERA) CQB and Enfield Challenage Comps, it's all about getting as many folk to sling as many rounds down the range in a safe manner.  Good stuff and I keep promising I'll have a go, I just know I'll get bitten by the bug and the current Mrs Smith will winge more as I'm out the house again!!

I don't get to many LERA matches anymore
Just the one last year

To be honest I've been so busy behind the scenes and havent shot myself that much.  In my mind LERA is CSR for wooden rifles!!  We're looking to run more comps and I've got to be honest a few folk have said that we've got bogged down with probationers which is ture to a point.  Having said that we all need to start somewhere and in my view LERA is not a full on as CSR.

LERA's gone down the crapper in terms of shooting ability of its membership as a whole.

Good guys got to old, ammo too expensive to properly practise; and a general fear of competitions and the outside world............ Behind the LERA Curtain

The 200yd mantlet shots on youtube were awesome though
(Just for those instant experts reading this - there was nothing breached in terms of safety the gallery range can safely accommodate mantlet hits)
