Hi guys,
          Just looking for a little advice really. I'm new to reloading and ran a batch of .44 mags off the other week. However I didn't use all the powder in the powder measure hopper. Should I of emptied this back into the powder jar? A few people have told me that it deteriorates very quickly when left in the measure. Is that correct? should I get rid of this powder and get some more next time I reload?

Regards

Chris

If the measure has a fitted lid, it's no different to it being in the tub...

Put it back in the pot!

It takes years for powder to deteriorate unless it's exposed to extremes of heat & moisture!

Cheers Target-Hunter,
                              It does. I though it wouldn't effect it . However people kept telling me that you shouldn't leave them full and as I'm new to reloading I want sure myself

Thanks DaddyPig. All my reloading gear is in my spare bedroon so is nice and dry. I dont think I will be running another batch off for a few weeks so will decant it back into the pot till I need it then.

All th best

The main reason for doing so IMHO is to ensure that you never get confused about what powder is in the measure and end up guessing

Two solutions to this;

1. I write the powder type on a label on the measure as I fill it.

2. Load some more cases until you run out of powder.

Option 2. is the preferred choice, but as I shoot faster than I can reload usually there isn't much left over anyway. Always have some cases somewhere to fill.
