So what's the single best outdoor range around Clarksville for pistol and rifle out to at least 100 yds?

range 16 on campbell is awesome!!  If you've got an mil ID.  sat and sun 0900 to 17:00 but try to get their early.  it's all volunteers who take time out of there weekend to run it. So they don't stay there if no one shows up!!! Can't stress that enough!!  It is marked out in 25meter intervals up to 175m!  PLUS there's random steel plates out to 600m An army buddy and I used to go out there all the time on the weekend before we got send to the sand box  You just gotta to the commy thing and get the firearm you want to shoot their registered on post, which is the same place you go to get ID TAGS FOR YOUR CAR. GATE FOUR.

I just switched from owl hollow in spring hill to maury county gun club. $15 one time sign up fee $75 per year. 200yrd rifle range, 3 pistol ranges, 7 skeet/trap stations (i think) . very nice set up. only con is really only opne on the weekend for the rifle and pistol. but a big pro is they are very into NFA and have a lot of matches like ispc and rifle. guest can come for $5 each visit 3 times a year. the $5 goes towards ypur $15 sign up as well.

I just read the bylaws on the gallitin gun club site. ROFLMAO! No vulgar language? I went to the orientation after joining and thought I'd have to be a Klan member to survive there. I'm sure I wasn't the only one to ask for a refund.

As for the range east of Nashville, 5 miles south of I-40. There was a two hour limit when my son and I went. Also you have to account for ever shot fired, what cal. and which lane you shot.
Too much hassle IMHO

RE:  Owl Hollow Gun Club in Franklin, TN

I-65S to Exit 62 (Peytonsville Rd)
Turn right & go to US 431 (Lewisburg Pk)
Turn Left (south) onto US431
Proceed 3 or 4 miles to Owl Hollow Road, then
turn Right onto Owl Hollow Road
After a couple of hard 90-degree lturns (left, right, then left again),
Range is on left immediately after 2nd left turn.

Haven't been lately...but, unless things have changed since I was an officer, pretty much anything except .50 BMG rounds are allowed...they tear up the berms too badly.

Never had a problem with full auto...just be sure it's legal!

There's occasionally some good natured ribbing between the black powder shooters & the metallic cartridge shooters who can fire more than once a minute...David

Stones River is a really nice range but you do have to pay to use it.  If your a occassional shooter, 2 hours for $5.50 may be ok.  If you do more then I would suggest the yearly fee of $101.00

Yes they ask you to count your rounds but that is probably to asess how much lead is in the berms for environmental reasons.  They allow everything up to 50 BMG and full auto.  No tracers.  Its very busy at times but they have adjustable bench seats and all you need to bring is your guns, ammo, hearing protection and targets unless you want their basic bullseye targets.  They also have a nice new operations building going up.

Link to their website is below:

Nothing fancy but a usable range… one shooting bench and a long table with fixed bench, 200 yard range. I think the day use fee is $3, half of that if you are a codger.

Easy to get to, right off US 321 and right by the lake you cannot miss it, should not be very busy this time of year.

I alway enjoy my time there.

The Jacobs Creek range over on South Holston is about 8-10 miles further for you it has 4 separate benches is nicer overall but is only 100 yards.

Rimfire, black powder, centerfire rifle/pistol.  Shotgun is "ok", but frowned upon because people want to throw clays and shoot toward the farmhouse.  No prob if you are patterning (sp) a turkey gun or slug gun or shooting "tactical"  Not sure about  Class III, never have seen it there, but don't think  it is against the rules.  Weekend can be busy, weekday is usually deserted.  Class lll's are welcome.

who's got the longest range in TN for rifles?

I think the club in Oak Ridge has a 1000 yd. range...but I believe it's just for members, but I may be wrong.

There is a range at Viola, Tn. that has a 600 yarder. Bob Cole can give ya more info on that range if you are interested.
