Certainly very sad, but it seems all efforts were made to calm it and the family were in agreement with the final decision. Very often local authorities and local vets will refuse to deal with dangerous dogs, leaving the big bad Plod to resolve it..................... ...but if you've seen a dog latched onto someone's limb as I did last week you might look at it differently............. |

I have always had the belief that there is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners, When I read it in the local rag this morning I couldn't believe it And Icarus, It wasn't meant as a have a go at the "big bad plod" I know you guys in the 4th armed force can only follow orders... But I could never shoot a cute little puppy no matter how many people "it had gone for" I even rescued a fox cub from the middle of dual carriageway once! Guess I'm just a big softy |
Not at all. I'm a dog person too but they can be lethal little beasties. The owner may have made them that way, but some are just plain nasty I'm afraid. I get the impression this wasn't quite a 'cute little puppy'. Also it's not a case of following orders. We don't do it because it's cheaper than paying a vet's bill. If we don't think the dog is dangerous we don't deal with it just because the owner wants rid of it. Most Police are soft over animals too, particularly dogs, and on quiet nights it's amazing what we drag off the roads. Injured badgers, deer, foxes (rescued from hunts in the past!). Only last night some of my lot were dancing around in the traffic to rescue a wallaby! btw, who are the other 3 armed forces?.........Farmers, farmers mum's, and Starbucks...........? |
