5.4.18 Update... Parking sucks. Maybe because of POTUS being here. Carpool or DART.
We're going to meet for beers at Community Beer Company around 6pm. Update 2... Dog is at Community now. Feet were tired and throat was dry. 5.3.18 Update: Found out that (at least) a couple of protests are planned. The two I know about are at City Hall. One is 6:30pm Friday. The other is noon on Saturday. 4.14.18 Update:According to @Miami_JBT: ARFCOM MEET UP AT MAGPUL AT 12 NOON EVERY DAY... I'm cool with that. But maybe we should meet at the booth at 9:30am on Saturday before the actual annual meeting? 4.12.18 Update: I've still not received my creds for the meeting. Anyone gotten theirs? 3.20.18 Update: I received a mailer from the NRA inviting me to the show... which is kind of odd since I registered back on Feb 3rd. It's probably a left hand / right hand kind of thing. But I've realized that they've got a Facebook page for the event (for those who FB), which might have useful information as we get closer to the date - NRA Annual Meeting 2018 on Facebook. They have announced that the annual meeting of members is on Saturday, May 5th at 10am. I'm thinking that is the must attend event of the show. Perhaps we should convene as a group 30 minutes prior and enter en masse? Everything else on the weekend planner involved spending money. Since it's in Dallas this year, maybe we should have an Texas ARFcom meeting at the meeting... followed by beers at some appropriate location. ETA: So like other threads, I want to add a list of "Who's going 100%". I can attend any day/all days cause I live in Dallas County. I'll go through the posts so far and divine who's sure. If you don't see your name, speak up. If you see it and aren't 100%, speak up. I don't mind editing the thread 3 times a day (or more). We can figure out the beer thing later (I'll be doing... "research"). And we can figure out a meeting place/time later. Someone mentioned the Magpul Booth as a meet-up place in another NRA AM thread on GD that Lug1 started and mentions below. That works for me, but I'm kind of waiting to see an event schedule before picking times. Then if you want go to the different meetings, concerts etc in the evenings it would be pretty overwhelming for younger kids. |

Wish I could go, had fun when it was in Dallas in 96.
Prepare for lots of walking, lots of gun handling and bring money for what is being sold. I bought a buck fixed blade knife with free engraving for mom and me, some mecgar mags for the 1911 for 5 dollars apiece. Also clothing and other gun accessories for cheap. Lectures are very good. Highlight was meeting Mr. Nosler. Talked to him for twenty minutes at the end of the show about reloading. When we were done he asked what calibers I loaded for. I told him and he gave me bullets totaling 500 for each caliber. Heavy as hell but he said it met he did not have to ship it back home.

And Texasrooter We are leaving at lunch on Friday we will be at the show Saturday morning but we will get to Dallas at about 5 pm Friday for possible beer drinking bullshit session. Heading up Friday morning from Houston and staying the night at the Sheraton Downtown. Then we head back to Houston Saturday afternoon.
If it's setup like the Houston one in 2013, you should be able to see the exhibit hall over a two day period with some lectures thrown in. I hope they have the Wall of Guns raffle

I was just watching a TGC podcast. Adam and John are planning a repeat of a panel they held at last years NRA AM, that included some folks of the gun channels that on that not to be named video hosting site. Except it's not going to be in the convention center because the NRA is miffed with some of those folks. So they're moving it to the Eddie Deen Ranch. I'm still trying to get some more details. But it sounds like it could be a good time. Maybe @SuperMoose will chime in. |

I'm in. I pre-registered on 3/8 and still have not received my passes. The auto-response email I got says they will be shipped by 4/16 so I would think I should be getting them any day. I guess they work tickets like I work taxes. I just sent mine in yesterday even though I'm getting a refund (though in my defense, I was waiting for a form that's not going to show up after all). |
