Hi I personally find WWII locations interesting. Glad you like France as it's a nice but slightly weird country comming from the Anglosphere. While property can be has for pennies on the dollar keep in mind that their inheritence tax is one of the highest in the world. I'm no expert on French tax law but in Yurp there are sometimes workarounds for that shit but you wil have to arrange that before it's needed.
