Looking to possibly make a move to texas. What areas would you all recommend moving to. Don't want to be IN the city, but not out in the center of nowhere either. And not along th gulf, I have had enough of the coast here. Thanks. Also, can anyone tell me what the schools out there are like. |

sure enough, Piney Woods is awful pretty, near some big towns and affordable to boot. depends on what you really want Mr. John. if I could be so bold, dang! anyplace in TEXAS is 20x better'n Jersey. I traveled there a lot and the people there drove me crazy. I know how ya feel. The brutal winters and tattered cities drain your soul. I got a bellyful of Northerners, their lack of decency, manners, and general discourtesy, and moved back home here. eyeball some places by region, then get down to the counties you are lookin for: Lands of Texas (don't let those million-dollar ranches scare ya off-Texas realty is still a bargain in my book) also, Texas A & M has a fantastic Realty Center with a whole lotta data you can research: Real Estate Center once you get down to a certain county, call/write/e-mail the local Chamber of Comerce for a Relocation or "Newcomer's Kit." people are pretty friendly down here. WELCOME! |
| Texas covers such a huge area that there are several distinct geographic areas. Coastal, Piney Woods, Hill Country, Grassland / Prarie, Desert, Plains, etc.... You can find a medium to large city in each region, and each of the cities have a distinct culture and feel. Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Tyler, and Austin are all places that I have lived or worked and they are different. My preference in Austin, where I live now, but to each his own. |
