I am going to be going through Missouri later this year and need to know if the signs prohibited CCW have a specific format in order to apply to CCWers. Thank you, CSP |

They're supposed to be, but all the ones I've seen are not posted according to the standard. From the Missouri Revised Statutes Chapter 571 Weapons Offenses Section 571.107
Most I've seen have been on good old regular 8.5x11 paper. Not sure if you'd have a leg to stand on, but all they can do is ask you to leave. If you refuse, it's barely a slap on the wrist. Read item (15) and the rest of the section for the specifics. |

The signs are supposed to have 1" tall letters, that's all I know. The deal is they can ask you to leave if they find you're ccwing and if you don't then you're in trouble. So the signs really don't mean much. Of course the standard places are still a no go, PD, Court, Bars and so on. ETA- Beat me to it. |
There are specs for CCW signs in Kansas. Link to Kansas Attornory General document on CCW Signs |

I think the operative function here is that someone posted a sign that they don't want you carrying a gun in their establishment, This is their right, So... Don't. What the hell matters if the damned sign is spec or not? Respect their wishes and don't carry a gun in there because if they spot it they will call the cops and you will be detained or worse. In Fact don't shop there! Asking about specs for signs sounds like someone wants to cause trouble somewhere. I don't recommend that! If you see a sign that says carrying firearms is not welcome here then respect that wish and go elsewhere. |
That's just for those who carry Berettas. Not for us Glock folks. |
BINGO!! And AFSOC, sometimes you don't have a choice. I've found myself going into plenty of places with such signs, such as my job. I chuckle though as it reads "No weapons" and I take a quick mental count of the weapons I have on me at that moment. Spyderco, expandable baton, sharp pencils, my key chain, my thumbs, etc. Every day. |
Probably no |

Most of the signs I have seen are non-compliant. However, I try to avoid places with those signs because they are frankly dangerous. The backup factor plummets, as there is much less chance you will have a brother-in-arms present. I used to go in and tell the owner that I would no longer be able to do business with their store because of the immense risk they are putting their patrons in. Usually they would ask me what I meant, and I would say that they had put up a "Free Robbery" sign. |
