Hi ?? I’m looking to connect with someone in the greater Sacramento area who owns or has access to private property where shooting is allowed or already established. Preferably an isolated location that won’t be an issue with noise, neighbors, or surrounding areas. Ideally within about an hour of Roseville and already used regularly for shooting. I’m happy to: - Pay for access or work out a fair arrangement - Bring my own targets and equipment - Follow any rules or schedule you prefer - Coordinate dates/times well in advance Safety and respect for you and your property are extremely important to me: - Strict adherence to all firearm safety rules (180° rule, constant awareness, etc.) - No damage to property (absolutely no shooting trees, fences, or anything else) - No trash left behind, I’ll leave it better than I found it My goal is a safe, controlled environment to train and teach my niece and family proper firearm safety without the unpredictability of public ranges. I’m a God fearing, freedom loving American who takes safety and responsibility seriously. I understand the trust involved and don’t take it lightly. I’m open to any verification that would make you comfortable. Happy to answer questions or meet beforehand (coffee, etc.). I operate on honesty and respect, and I’m also willing to sign a liability waiver if needed. You’re always welcome to be there while we shoot. Scheduling is up to you, I’m flexible and can plan in advance. Just looking for a respectful, long term setup where everyone is comfortable. | There was a guy on Calguns that was renting his property in Livermore for what you're describing. Can't remember his handle, and don't know if he's still offering it. There was also another guy that was in the metal industry that had a property somewhere in the Sac Valley that he rented out. He made steel targets and did like Jeep type fabrication work if I remember right. Third, 20+ years ago we used to have shoots in the middle of the forest at an abandoned quarry up in Pollock Pines. Very low key there. |

Unless specifically prohibited, you are allowed to shoot on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. The interactive map at this link shows the BLM land. There is a large patch on the far side of Folsom Lake. From the BLM web site - "The BLM allows the use of firearms on public lands as provided for in California state law. Shooters are responsible for knowing applicable laws and using firearms and other recreational shooting weapons in a safe manner." P.S. - We have not heard back from the OP, one way or the other, as to whether he has found a place to shoot. |
