Hey guys I want to give you a brief introduction about our instructors backgrounds and what classes we offer.
Our Instructor staff: Instructor Jay Pappas Military experience: 3 years served in 2d Ranger Battalion. I have been deployed 3 times in support of OIF and OEF. I completed several military schools to be assigned to the Ranger Regiment. Military schools completed include; airborne school, ranger indoctrination program, and combat lifesaver course. Various awards and badges including but not limited to CIB, EIB, and Airborne wings, etc. Education: Washtenaw Community College: Criminal Justice, Huron Valley Ambulance: EMT-B NREMT-B, state license awarded NRA Certified Firearms Instructor. Instructor Molly Pappas Education: Oakland Community College: Criminal Justice. Oakland University: Criminal Justice. NRA Certified Firearms Instructor. Relevant experience: I worked as a post 9/11 flight attendant for 2 years with Spirit Airlines. While flying as cabin crew I worked with federal and local law enforcement to ensure flight security, dealing with situations from unruly passengers, to terrorist threats. Firearm instructor experience: I have been teaching firearm classes since mid 2009. Instructor Jake Brannan Military experience: 4 Years served as an assistant team leader in Force Recon detachment 3rd Recon Battalion. During this time he completed two SOTG shooting packages and a SOTG breaching course, US Army military freefall, Marine Combat Dive School, and EMT-B school. During his deployment to OIF he was the primary breacher, and a shooter on his team. At the end of his deployment his was awarded a Meritorious Combat Promotion to Sergeant Classes Offered: NRA Certified Home Firearm Safety NRA Certified Pistol NRA Personal Protection in the Home Defensive Pistol 1 and 2 Intro. to the Carbine Carbine Operator. NRA courses are $100 per student. Our non NRA courses are $225 per student. Students will be getting their moneys worth with the level of instruction provided, we feel it is very important to have a low student to instructor ratio.
What is the name of your company? Practical Firearms Training Do you have a website? michigancplclass.com, the site is incompete and in the process of being upgraded now. Where are you located? We use a private range in Brighton for the majority of our classes. Brighton is about half way between Detroit and Lansing on I96. Course descriptions? The NRA courses follow the specified criteria stated by the NRA. We will be posting the course descriptions for our pistol and carbines classes by the end of the week. Cost? |

Stance Grip The draw Sight alignment Sight Picture Trigger control Accuracy standards Shooting at various distances expect to shoot at contact distance to 25 yards Unconventional shooting positions Strong hand shooting Weak hand shooting Shooting on the move Multiple Target engagements Malfunction drills Reloads Gear Placement Combat Mindset Qualification test Topics and drills may change due to students needs. We will use a variety of drills to drive home the fundamentals and help each student progress to a higher standard. Required equipment: Eye and ear protection Functional Semi-auto handgun 3 magazines (5 or more is recommended) 400 rounds factory ammo Good holster (cross draw and shoulder holsters are not allowed,we also recommend that you bring to class what you will most likely be using. I.e. concealed holster for a civilian. Duty belt for police officer, etc...)
