ETH, if Late April/Early May is a possibility...that's my vote!

Last year it was on Cinco de Mayo I think, or thereabouts....

Man, I hope I can get a kitchen pass again!

Close, it's the Cynthia Ann Parker Days in Crowell, Texas.

I always thought it best to have it the same weekend, but I note from their website that they haven't updated the dates from last year...Cynthia Ann Parker Days

The reason for this was simply to give folks something else to do that weekend...but it's not set in stone that it needs to be the same weekend, at all.

This year I was hoping that the Hun Farm could enter a float in the parade......

Now where can we assemble this and what is the theme ??

From what I've seen, we can just get a tractor and hay trailer, throw some bales on it, and present whatever we wish!

Maybe something 'patriotic'...with firearms from different periods in Foard County History carried by folks dressed from the appropriate period.

Finally, a chance to wear your Confederate uniform, Spanish American War outfit, doughboy, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, or Persian Gulf I and II uniforms...with the right weapon!

Finally! A chance to show off that M-4 in public!

Just thinking out loud, but such a float would be 'Best in Show.'

Great idea.

We need to get someone to volunteer to remain sober to drive the tractor.......

That may be tougher than finding some of the needed costumes!

I remember we made an ice run in FALARAK's jeep last year during the parade and returned to the Hun Farm with the Go-Go's blaring We Got the Beat or Have You Seen Them over the stereo.  If I knew I'd be able to make it down for sure I'd volunteer the use of my camo'd M1010 CUCV  military ambulance to be used for the parade.  There are 3-side frames on the sides/back to display the "first aid/medic red crosses" that just slide into place and we could make up signs that could just fit in there instead...just thinking out loud.  I'm driving the ambulance out to SLC next July (wife and daughter are flying) and meet the family for a family vacation, then up into SE Idaho where my daughter and I will go camp up on our ranch in the mountains while my wife is attending her convention.  With that trip already planned and the higher cost of diesel I'm not sure if I will be able to attend the Hun Farm in the spring or not...but we shall see as I could win the Power Ball Lottery between now and then!

Doubtful we'll make it to any event during the school year.

I have been wanting to attend one of these famed Hun Farm events for quite a while.
This spring it looks like the Cynthia Ann Parker Days festival will be during the last class I need to take before graduating in June.

I'll just have to keep an eye on the schedule and see how it goes

Put me down for the build committee or what ever else.

The Hun Farm is my family farm situated on the Pease River in Foard County, Texas.

This 1,000 acre farm was purchased by my great, great grandfather John Teague Hun in 1885, and his Granddaughter, Dovie Grethel Teague Hun (my Grandmother) was born there in 1900. My Father was born on the Farm in 1923.

I shot my first centerfire rifle there in 1962, at age 10.

Except for the fencing, and the Cabin that my Aunt Wanda Whitaker Hun and I had built in 1988, the Farm pretty much looks the same as when John Teague Hun bought it in 1885.

Our nearest neighbor is about 8.5 miles away.

Keep watching this Forum for more details.

Nope, not to my knowledge, at least.

Aunt Wanda was married to Robert L. Whitaker who was a vice-president of West Texas Utilities, back in the 1960s and 1970s.

His only son is Keith Whitaker.

Welcome !!

If you can make a Hun Farm event I highly recommend it.

Its a blast !! ( pun intended )

Its strickly roughing it, camping in the great outdoors..no facilities but there is a nice park up the road
for a daily shower at 2 bucks.

Once you go to an event you will want to attend each and everyone there after, I think it has to do with
the great outdoors and the air...uuhhhhmmm not to mention our gracious host

If you use the park shower for $2 make sure you don't tell any of the campers that you're one of "those people" shooting at all hours of the day and night and sounding like WW III is about to start...just nod your head and agree that those people kept you awake as well.

I'm scheduled to go down to Wichita Falls sometime this year to Sheppard AFB for 7-level school for the Air Guard and it would be sweet if it happened to fall during the Spring Hun Farm get-together!

You could just be like me and my friends and pitch a tent 100 yrds from the firing line.  Then you won't be lying when you say those bastards kept you alive all night too.

Next time I'll be up making the tent closest to the firing line stays awake.

The nice thing about the Hun Farm is that it's big enough that you have plenty of space to camp and don't have to camp real close to the firing line.  I camped out in the ambulance about 50 yards from the cabin which was just fine as far as noise from the firing line.
