| If a 9mm Hi Point is converted to bolt action, even though it has a pistol grip and detachable mag, is it now NY legal? |
| I removed the recoil spring. Then I dremeled open an area by the bolt slide on the left so the bolt handle slips in. Also sanded down the bolt handle a little bit to install a spring to lock it in place during firing. Only problem is the casing does not extract out well, so you have to rotate rifle clockwise to let casing drop out. Not too big a deal. |

I get to keep my personal property without loosing sleep over jbt storming into my home in the middle of the night. FUAC I suppose it's all a matter of who you are, where you live, and the sort of life you lead....doesn't seem to matter if it the Metro NYC area or New Mexico, (where ironically there seems to be more JBT events)
No, if they "want you" they're going to raid your house and shoot the dog.....and while you may beat the rap, you'll still take the ride. |

Could have sold it and had funds to buy a compliant replacement or other alternatives. The simple fact is unSAFE has made quite a few long guns useless. Any PPC such as a Hi Point or Beretta is long longer any use to a NYer. Sure, you can make it compliant like the OP did, but what good is it? Single shot? Bolt action? Why not buy a mini-14 or SKS? |
