| There's a range I'm thinking of, maybe in Paulding Co? I think it's north of I-20 but I can't remember the name. Our Hometown Forum range locator is AWOL. I'm thinking of joining the range but I need info. |
Didn't sound like it..and it is what it is, just wish somehow they would have given members a heads up without depending on checking the website... ![]() |

Griffin is fine club. 100 yard covered rifle, 50 yard covered pistol, and several trap and skeet fields. The best way to say it is your buying rights to use the range. Theres no club per say. You get a code to the gate and shoot whenever you want (as long as the suns up, its open). The only down fall is work hours. All work on the club is done by the memebrs, so you have to do 12 hours a year, which runs from May to June. Its $150 if all you hours are done. You do have to be sponsored by a member to get in and have a valid membershp in the NRA. I live in Senoia and almost always always end up going alone, if any body from the area wants to check it out let me know. Always looking for a shooting buddy. griffingunclub.org/Home.html |

Have you looked into "Bob's" in Palmetto? His gun shop is on Tommy Lee Cook road in the north end of the county. He did have 200 yards. I do not know if he still sells memberships. I do know several years ago he gave one person's money back because he "shot too much". I should also say that I am not sure his shop is still open but his sign is still on the road. His place is only about a mile and a half from Hwy. 29. |
I don't know where you are, but the Ocmulgee WMA range is just off I-16 about 30 miles east towards Savannah. I really like it, you can back up to the shooting stations. It is a bit far for me, but for someone who lives south of Atlanta towards Macon, it isn't far at all. I can't see paying for a 100 yard range when there are so many free 100 yard ranges around. |
I can't speak to Griffin, though it looks very nice from the website. Creekside is very new and still a work in progress, but functional. I can also say that Joe and the staff are super people and more than accommodating. Griffins hours seemed a bit more flexible with being given a code and use at your leisure, but CS has reasonable hours. With 5 miles difference, I'd give each of them a try and make your call after test-driving both. |

Not to Hijack but does anyone have any experience with River Bend Gun Club in Forsyth County? www.rbgc.org/ |

I've been shooting at RBGC since it was on the OTHER river. It is a really nice club from a range standpoint, but the rules piss a lot of people off. The main gotcha is the infamous 6-second-rule. No more than one shot every 6 seconds. No rapid fire basically. This rule only applies on the rifle ranges, not the pistol bays. It is pricey to join, they just upped the dues to $300/year and the 'buy in' is now $500 I think. I'll point out that you can shoot the matches at RBGC without ever joining. There are now 2 pistol matches per month, the Action Pistol (3 bays) match I run on 3rd Saturday, and an IPSC match (5 or 6 bays) on the 4th Saturday. 3-gun matches are mostly every 1st Saturday. Let me know if you hae any other questions about RBGC. |
