Long time lurker in the TN HTF, would love to retire there. My old platoon sergeant is in Dixon Springs. Anyways, taking the fam to Gatlinburg, PF, and Sevierville in April for touristy things the kids will like. How bad is the traffic at that time of year (spring break-ish)? I hear horror stories of traffic during the summer. Our trip will also coincide with the Rod Run. Wondering if we should use the shuttles I read about. Thanks in advance for any insights! |

There right now is about a month or two lull where it isn't so bad. When you're thinking falls into spring break for a lot of kids and it's going to be busy. Here's the thing about traffic like that. Go knowing it's going to suck. Have something to distract the kids with in the car. It is what it is. Enjoy the destination once you get there. Keep in mind though that Dixon Springs is three and a half hours west of Gatlinburg. |
I think one of the major problems with America today is not enough families sit down to a big plate of squirrels momma just fried up.

Coinciding with the rod run? It will suck and suck big time. It is a total shit show, seriously. That time of year is bad enough already but add the rod run, no f’ing way I would be there especially with kids. I have been there, and yes, it was only due to a road closure not by choice. To get from Gatlinburg to PF took 2 hours. There has been serious talk of doing away with it recently as it is such a total shit show. |
