| I’ve used the county extension agent for Baldwin county (Milledgeville) for testing soil samples over the years. Always a good experience. Knowledgeable, helpful, and gave service with a smile. So different than dealing with a city. Anyway, I have a 4 acre pond on my farm ( about 95 acres total, i grow pine trees) in Baldwin county and I’d like to get some advice from one of their agents concerning the quality of the water (that’ll require a water sample) . If the water samples show good water, then I’d like to know how to keep it that way. If it’s not good, I’d like him to tell me specifically what I need to do to improve it. I’ve got bass, bream, catfish, turtles, heron, and the occasional water moccasin. So, does anyone have any experience in dealing with the county extension agent, what did they do for you, and did you implement their suggestions? I didn’t use one when I cut my timber, or for replanting. I used a forest manager that’s with the same company as a highly respected forester on this site. I am going to hire a forestry mulcher man to cut around the pond. Just scrub trees and smaller pine trees. This will not be close enough to the pond to affect the water. Any tips, info, experience, will be greatly appreciated..TIA… |

| I have....a rather unique extension relationship, the only issue nowadays is UGA doesn't have anybody doing aquaculture since Gary burtle retired, they are focused on the saltwater side more now but the CO agent should have no issue doing the sample and providing the fertility report for it. |
