live just south of gainesville and saw that alot of the gas stations are limiting people to 10 gallons (per transaction) the reasoning they say is so they will be able to provide for their "valuable customers during this short supply for the southeastern" just wondering if anyone else has this going on.....

It's apparently happening all over the southeast...TN, SC, NC, GA....and in NC the gas is over $5 per gallon according to another thread in GD. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=756155 |

Oil platforms in the Gulf have been closed more then open the past couple of weeks due to storms. The Oil refineries are in LA. They also have been closed due to the storms. Lack of oil from the platforms and the Ability to refine what they have creates and Gas Shortage. Here in the panhandle the fuel depot has been on allocation for 2 or 3 weeks now. It is getting hard to get a regular delivery of fuel. I really dont think that it is because of Credit Cards that they are limiting fuel.... MAHA |
10-4 on that! We topped off tonight as well. Just a shame that I can't store gasoline like I do everything else...... |
yes you can........... |
Yeah this is BS and people need to call in and report this. I'm in south FL and there is no such shortage and prices as normal around $3.70-80. I hate when people get ripped off though. |
Yeah one station down from the house (McKenzies) was over $5.00 a gallon and the State's crawling all up their ass already. |
|
The Racetrac station in Sarasota near I-75 was $3.74 and had half the pumps bagged, had to wait in line about five minutes. First time I've ever seen that at that station. EDIT: The racetrac station mentioned above is now out, but there are other stations around that have gas, it's just back up to the $4 price again. |
VAlero here... ain't that hugo chavez's co.? |
I thought you guys where for less government control, you don’t want the Feds regulating what guns you have, why government control on prices, Supply and demand, the free market, no one is going to die if they pay 10 dollars more for a tank of gas then usual, and you are free not to return to that station that charges more for gas when the weather event is over, and prices got back to normal at all gas stations, Lets get uniform on things you want less of, either you are for government control and regulation or you aren’t. The gov. coming in to protect you from supposed price gouging, maybe they think they should come in and take your guns to protect everyone in there eye, like in NO. Business is business, you charge more when you can or you go out of business, cops going around looking for a business owner that made a few bucks when the demand is high is not what I want happening, looking out for looters is what they should be. |
Definitely don't want to do business with you.

Sorry if I offended you with my less government intervention and free market ideals. I think that is what makes America what it is,Great!! I will send you a 10% off coupon, to keep you as valued customer. |
No offense taken, I just won't deal with those who's morals allow them to stick it to the customer under the color of free market ideals just because they believe it's their right to do so. We all know the real reason is GREED. |
Exactly my point, free market, raise the price to high and you lose customers, don't need any laws for that. That is how the FM works. |
Except when such so called free market ideals are directly related to natural disasters in which such free market ideals create extreme hardship and hazards to the public. Being as business are governed by local, state and federal statutes that insure they create no hazards to the public they of course must follow the law or face the consequences. Or do you advocate the complete and total unrestricted free market with absolutely no over site ...................... good luck with those warranties, water in your gasoline and that case of food poisoning |
No, I'm not for anyone selling dangerous of defective products, I don't think price controlls ever work, and I'm not for anyone at any time telling me what I can sell something for in the USA. Capitalism!!!! Except for FP&L then they can regulate the price. |
I'm for what ever price the market can bear, and so would you if you are selling something. No one would charge that price for a gallon of gas,you could drive to the next gas station and get it for less, they would not sell a single gallon at the price of $20 a gallon. this is a big deal about nothing, they charge 20% more for a few days and then back to normal and you as a customer can choose not to do business with them again if you think you where ripped off. I'm for less gov. in the free market, gas would be cheaper normally if they stayed out of it, we can get ethanol from Brazil made from Sugar cane for less than it cost to make it here from corn, but congress imposes tariffs to raise there cost to us,so we buy the cheaper US made ethanol only because of tariffs on the Brazilian ethanol and blend it with gas, and making ethanol from corn, increases our food costs. Government medaling in the free market is bad for consumers. and I can site some more examples of Government manipulation ending badly for consumers if you would like. |
So as long as taking advantage of people is ok with you the rest of us are wrong .............. hmmm. Something wrong with that picture.

There raising the prices now and I bet no fines will be given out to any stores, they want to give you the illusion they are protecting you from gouging, who judges what is gouging and under what criteria? Any business can fudge the books to justify the cost, and if supply was really tight people will hoard and buy more than they need and sell there excess on the black market for more money, causing the gas to sell out quicker than it should have. This law is bullshit just like anti scalping rules for tickets that never get enforced. If you get gas at 4 dollars a gallon and you get to buy more than you need, if on the way home, a stranger comes up to you and offers you $10 a gallon for any extra gas you can spare, because all the stations sold out…are you going to say no I will sell you it for $4 cause that is the law? LOL no way you are going to make the money like the station owner should have been able to do. Anti-gouging laws don't cut gas prices State probed 50 potential cases; no charges http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/05/10/MNGQHIOUJP1.DTL |

www.wftv.com/news/17470170/detail.html Attorney General Issues Subpoenas In Central Florida Price Gouging Complaints POSTED: 11:22 am EDT September 14, 2008 UPDATED: 12:02 pm EDT September 14, 2008 ORLANDO, Fla. -- Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum's office announced Sunday that subpoenas have been issued to Central Florida gas stations that are accused raising the price of gasoline because of the effects of Hurricane Ike. The stations named were the Dodge's Store locations in Maitland and west Orange County and a Pilot Station on SW Highway 484 in Ocala. A spokeswoman for McCollum said that the subpoenas will be served at the corporate headquarters of the stations on Monday. As Ike approached the Texas coast and the oil rigs and refineries in that area, drivers in Central Florida saw prices at some stations jump as much as a dollar a gallon. Hundreds of complaints have poured into the Attorney General's hotline. According to a statement issued by McCollum Sunday morning, investigators from his office have been contacting gas station owners and requesting documentation to justify price increases. Penalties for price gouging during a a state of emergency can total up to $25,000 per day. |

Have you guys seen this thread? People are supporting price gouging, claiming it helps the economy. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=756529 |
