Texas DPS, Richardson PD, UTD Police and Sheriffs just mowed down the "encampment" on the plaza. I really enjoyed watching officers yank down a popup tent. |

I was a non-commissioned officer there in the late 70s. The west side of the campus is in Dallas County and butts up against the Dallas city limits. The Dallas guys were cool with us and the campus-commissioned guys and would stop by to chat from time to time. The Richardson guys on the other hand were a bunch of Richards.

Watching the coverage a member of the crowd said not many of them are students. Where they protesters really goofed up was protesting across the Collin County line and not in Dallas County. The Dallas County DA would not press charges on them and likely give them a special medal for participating. |

I grew up in Richardson just a mile or so from UTD. In the 70’s, UTD was practically in the country. You’d have to squint to see it from Campbell Rd. Did Waterview even go north of Campbell yet? The whole area is unrecognizable today in comparison. The place being chock-full of Pali sympathizers is no surprise to me. I think that place has been a haven for those types since I was a kid. |

Not sure when Waterview was extended north from Campbell, but I recall stomping in one big field from the A&M extension on Coit over to Floyd. UTD seemed like a couple of buildings and parking a bit further north in that field. Wife was watching on TV. Apparently the news kept breaking in interrupting Judge Judy or whatever exciting thing she was watching... I told her to call me if they started tire fires or if hickory shampoo was being applied. Not giving them the clicks/views otherwise. |
| On a related note, the local grade school had an outing planned for tomorrow in Arlington at UTA. The college notified them they might not want to go through with because of the current climate. The school canceled the outing. These are the same kids who missed out on their trip to Austin in the 4th grade because of COVID. I wonder how many other schools are canceling field trips because of this nonsense. |
